England and Pakistan will compete at the Rose Bowl in Southampton for the 2nd ODI in their 5-match series. The first game was abandoned due to the rain which arrived early in the contest.

It was a shortened fixture but there were many positives for England in regards to their bowling. Jofra Archer was exceptional as the seamer to 1 wicket which conceding only 6 runs in 4 overs. Archer made the ball move off the seam and swing in the air which made life extremely tough for the Pakistan batsman. Liam Plunkett also took a wicket for England.

On the other side of the coin, Pakistan will be disappointed that the likes of Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman both failed to score runs. It was a poor start to the match for Pakistan as they were scoring at a rate of less than 4 for a long period. On a positive note, Imam-ul-Haq showed his ability as the opener battled through a tough period to score an unbeaten 42. Pakistan will look for a more aggressive start to this match.

The conditions in Southampton are set to be much better than at the Oval so both England and Pakistan will be expecting an uninterrupted match. The pitch at the Rose Bowl should be exceptional for batting. There have been 3 Royal London One Day games played at this venue this season. In the 3 games, 4 scores of over 300 have been produced. Both Pakistan and England will be hoping to score big runs in this match.

Looking at this fixture, I am going to side with England to win. England have a better balance to their side. This is a game where the winning team must score over 300 runs and I don’t see Pakistan having enough batting power to complete such a task. England have easily scored over 300 on many occasions and I see them having too much quality batting to lose.
