Pakistan and England will begin their 5-match One Day International series at the Oval in London. Both Pakistan and England will be desperate to win this series as it will be the perfect preparation for the ICC World Cup which starts later in the month.

Pakistan and England played in a T20 International on the weekend in Cardiff. It was a close match but England showed their ability to take the win. Eoin Morgan was very impressive for England as the captain scored an unbeaten 57 off 29 balls. Babar Azam was the best batsman for Pakistan. Babar Azam scored 65 runs off 42 balls to help Pakistan score a total of 173.

As far as the bowling was concerned, England bowled far better than Pakistan. Jofra Archer was very impressive by taking 2 wickets for 29 runs. Tom Curran and Chris Jordan also contributed with wickets. Pakistan were poor with the ball with the likes Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf having economy rates of over 10. Imad Wasim was Pakistan’s top bowler as the spinner took 1 wicket at an economy rate of 6.

The conditions at the Oval have been good for batting and both Pakistan and England will look to score big runs. There is potential for rain in London which means that this match could be shortened.

England enter this match as the top-ranked side in the world. With the ICC World Cup being played at home, England have huge expectations and it will be very important for the team to start this series well. Pakistan have not been very good in ODI cricket over the past few months as they were comfortably beaten by Australia in their last series. England have a better ODI team and are playing at home. With that in mind, I see England winning this match.
