India are set to host Australia for 3-match T20 series. The first match of the series is set to take place on Sunday in the Indian city of Visakhapatnam.
Australia have been playing very poor limited-overs cricket over the past 12 months as they have failed to win any events in an age. Prior to this tour, Australia were beaten by India at home in an ODI series and drew 1-1 in a T20 series. The bowling has been the biggest cause for concern as the likes of Starc and Lyon have been hit for too many runs. As far as the batting is concerned, the top order looks in poor touch as the likes of Aaron Finch and Alex Carey have been constantly failing. Darcy Short will be a big player for Australia as the opening batter had a very strong Big Bash and he will need to lead the team.
On the other side of the coin, India will return to playing their full team. India rested many top players for the T20I series in New Zealand meaning the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli will be fresh. In Indian conditions, India have been very hard to beat and they showed that by beating West Indies with comfort in their last home series. India had a very strong series in Australia as they won most games which means the team will be feeling very confident as they head into this fixture.
The pitch in Visakhapatnam should turn which means the spinners will be vital. These conditions should suit India as they have world-class spinners in Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick India to win this match. India have a stronger team and will have the advantage of playing at home. India recently beat Australia so I am expecting that trend to continue in this match.
