India and Australia continue their ODI series in Mohali at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium where the teams will play the 4th ODI. As it currently stands, India lead the series 2-1.
Australia had a big win in the last game which kept the series alive. The batting was the most impressive part of Australia’s win as Aaron Finch returned to form by scoring 93 while Usman Khawaja scored 104. Australia scored 313 runs which proved to be enough runs. The Australian bowling was led by Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa and Jhye Richardson as the trio combined to take 9 wickets. This is another must-win match for Australia if they wish to keep the series alive.
On the other side of the coin, India had a very poor outing in the previous match. The fielding was very poor and they gave Australia way too many extra runs. Furthermore, India dropped too many catches including that of Khawaja who went on to score a century. The big questions surrounding India’s middle order batting came out again in this match as the nobody managed to get runs. Virat Kohli scored a supreme century for India that almost won the team the match but the captain didn’t have enough support. The poor form of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma is starting to be an issue as India are relying too much on Virat Kohli. MS Dhoni will be rested in this match meaning Rishabh Pant will have an opportunity to show his talent.
The pitch at Mohali is generally good for batting which means that both India and Australia will look to score big.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick India to win this match. India are the stronger team and I see them bouncing back at home to win this fixture.
