India will play Australia in the fifth and final ODI at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi. The series is currently tied at 2-2 meaning that India and Australia will be playing this match like an effective final.
Australia won the previous match due to a supreme batting effort as they chased down a score of 358 with 13 balls to spare. Peter Handscomb scored a magnificent 117 and Usman Khawaja continued his good form by scoring 91. The hero for Australia was Ashton Turner who scored an unbeaten 84 runs off only 43 balls to get the team over the line. Pat Cummins was the star bowler for Australia as he picked up 5 wickets which prevented India from scoring a much larger total.
As far as India was concerned, it was an unlucky defeat. The Indian bowled reasonable well but near the end of the innings, the dew caused the ball to get wet which resulted in the game slipping away. None of the Indian bowlers were able to prevent the ball from slipping which resulted in the final overs being very costly and Australia winning with ease. As far as the Indian batting was concerned, it was a very strong performance. Shikhar Dhawan marked a return to form by scoring 143 of 115 balls while Rohit Sharma also contributed by scoring 95 runs off 92 balls.
The conditions at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium should be similar to those presented throughout the series with the batting being the easier task to perform.
All in all, I am expecting this to a close match that India will win. India have failed to live up to their reputation during the last 2 games but with the series on the line, I am expecting the big Indian players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to perform. India have a stronger team and I see them winning this match and the series.
