India vs Australia - 3/2/19 One Day International Cricket - 1st ODI Pick, Preview, Odds, and Prediction

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

India will host Australia for a 5-match ODI series. This will be the last chance for many of the players to show their class before the World Cup teams are announced so the importance of performing will be massive for both India and Australia. The match is set to be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Australia had a big 2-0 win in the T20 series and the team will be full of confidence as they enter this ODI series. Glenn Maxwell was exceptional for Australia in the previous match as the batsman scored a century to ensure his team chased down a massive total. As far as the bowling was concerned, Australia are still lacking a quality spinners so it will be important for either Nathan Lyon or Adam Zampa to perform and show the selectors that they are the choice for the World Cup. Australia’s seem bowling unit looks very solid with Pat Cummins leading the way.

On the other side of the coin, India will need to start and finalize their team. The T20 series saw the Indians rest many of their key players but with time running out, it will be important that India finds a settled 11 soon. On a positive note, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and MS Dhoni all look in very good form which should ensure India can score the big total they will need. The Indian bowling should be back to strength with the likes of Kuldeep Yadav expected to return. India are the stronger team and they will be very desperate to ensure they can have a big win in this series.

Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick India to win. The conditions should suit India as they are the home team. With a stronger side and a better record in ODI cricket, I see the Indian team returning to winning ways.
