India and Australia will continue their ODI series on Tuesday at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur. As it currently stands, India lead the series 1-0 meaning that Australia must win if they wish to get into the series.
It was a poor batting display by Australia in the opening ODI as the batsman failed to convert their starts. Marcus Stoinis, Usman Khawaja and Peter Handscomb all got starts but none managed to convert it into a big total which cost Australia dearly. Another area of concern for Australia will be the form of their captain, Aaron Finch. Finch has struggled for months and it is important for Australia that the captain can turn his form around with the World Cup only months away. As far as the bowling was concerned, it was a good performance by the likes of Zampa and Cummins but it wasn’t enough since the batting didn’t score enough runs.
On the other side of the coin, it was a very good performance by India. The Indian bowling was exceptional with Bumrah, Shami and Kuldeep Yadav all contributing with wickets. The top-order Indian batting failed but MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav steadied the chase by creating a partnership that scored over 100 runs. India has been in very good ODI form and they will be confident as they head into this match.
The pitch at the VCA Stadium should be very good for scoring runs so it will be a good chance for both the Australian and Indian batters to find some form.
India look very confident after their win while Australia look lost since this team has no idea where to find runs. India have the stronger team and their confidence is much higher. With India being the home team for this series, I see India winning this match.
