India and Australia will play the 3rd ODI of their 5-match series at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. India lead the series 2-0 so Australia must win this match to remain in the series.
India had a tough time with the bat during the second ODI as most of the batsman struggled to score big runs. Captain, Virat Kohli, bailed India out by scoring his 40th ODI century which allowed the team to score 250 runs. Vijay Shankar also had a good day with the bat as he helped Virat Kohli score before getting run out. While the batting still needs improving, India’s bowling was exceptional as it was well led by Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah who combined to take 5 wickets. Vijay Shankar was the hero with the ball for India as he took 2 wickets in the final over to secure the win.
On the other side of the coin, Australia will be very disappointed that they let the game slip away. It was a comfortable chase for Australia but they lost their last 5 wickets in a bundle to be bowled out for a losing total. Aaron Finch’s struggle for runs continues and the pressure is building on the Australian captain to deliver. The bowling was solid for Australia as Cummins, Lyon and Zampa all took wickets.
The pitch at the JSCA International Stadium Complex has not been the easiest to score on historically. With neither batting unit firing, this could be a low scoring game.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick India to win this game. Australia have consistently been failing with the bat while India have managed to get totals on the board. With the crowd on their side, I am going to pick India to win this match.
