India -120 / Australia +110
In the 2019 ICC World Cup, India are going to play against Australia at the Oval in London.
India opening their World Cup campaign on Wednesday where they played against South Africa in Southampton. It was a dominating display by the Indian team as the controlled all of the match to earn 2 points. The bowling was outstanding by the Indian team as they restricted South Africa to only 227 runs in 50 overs. Jasprit Bumrah started the match extremely well for India as the paceman took the wickets of Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock. The middle overs of South Africa’s innings was also controlled by India as Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. Chahal took 4 vital wickets while Kuldeep dismissed JP Duminy. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was also effective for India as he bowled extremely well at the death by taking 2 wickets.
Australia, on the other hand, played the West Indies at Trent Bridge in their last outing. Australia won the match by 15 runs. It was a poor batting display by the Australian batsman as they struggled to deal with the short ball. Finch, Khawaja, Warner, and Maxwell were all troubled by bouncers and it cost them their wickets. While the top-order batting performance against the West Indies was poor, there were positives since the likes of Carey, Coulter-Nile and Smith scored some valuable runs. Australia must perform better with the bat against India but considering their recent record, they will be confident they can bounce back. The bowling was very good from Australia with Starc and Cummins bowling with great pace and accuracy. Results aside, Australia are bowling well but the batting can improve.
The Oval is known to be a very good batting pitch. This should ensure we have a hugely high scoring since both India and Australia have strong batting units.
The key player for Australia in this match is Aaron Finch. The Australian captain is a destructive batsman and his ability to score quickly could take the game away from India. On the other side of the coin, India will hope that Kuldeep Yadav can perform. Kuldeep has the ability to take big wickets and if he can control the middle overs, India will win.
This should be a very close game since both Australia and India are filled with very exciting players. Both teams will be confident in their ability to win but I am going to pick India to get the victory. India have a better balance to their side and I see their bowlers being a great threat than Australia’s. Kuldeep and Chahal have been a handful to most teams and I see them dominating Australia and getting India the victory.
