India and Bangladesh will play the first Test match of a 2-match series at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.

India have been in outstanding form and they enter this match having won a 3-match series 3-0 against South Africa. India were dominant throughout the series against South Africa as they scored close to 2000 runs in 4 innings. Rohit Sharma was outstanding throughout the series as he scored over 500 runs. The bowling was also outstanding from India with the quartet for Jadeja, Ashwin, Yadav, and Shami demolishing the South African batting. India are looking in outstanding touch and will be very tough to beat.

On the other side of the coin, Bangladesh will be looking to cause a big upset. Bangladesh will be without Shakib Al Hasan which is a major loss for the team. Bangladesh have not played Test cricket since January when they were defeated 2-0 away from home by New Zealand. The last time that Bangladesh won a Test match was in December 2018 when they defeated the West Indies at home. Playing on subcontinental pitches, Bangladesh will hope to get assistance for their spinners. Mehidy Hasan will be vital for Bangladesh as he will be the main spin bowler for the team. Regardless of conditions, this is expected to be a tough match for Bangladesh.

India and Bangladesh played each other in a 3-match T20 series prior to the start of this match. India won the T20 series 2-1.

Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick India to win this match. Bangladesh don’t have the batting depth nor the bowling quality to compete with India. India are incredible at home and I see them being too strong for Bangladesh in every aspect of the game. This match should end in a comfortable victory for India.
