The first semifinal of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup will see India play against New Zealand at Old Trafford.

India have been in outstanding form in this tournament as they finished the group stage of the tournament with 15 points. India finished top of the group. In their previous outing, India defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets.
The bowling was impressive from India as Jasprit Bumrah led the team. India only allowed Sri Lanka to score 264 runs. Bumrah took 3 wickets while Jadeja and Pandya also contributed with 1 wicket each. Kuldeep Yadav had a poor day for India and the spinner is likely to be replaced by Yuzvendra Chahal. Mohammad Shami is also expected to return for this game after the pace bowler was rested in the match against Sri Lanka.

The batting was outstanding from India as Rohit Sharma continued his supreme tournament. Rohit scored his 5th century in this tournament and was vital in ensuring India won the match with some ease. KL Rahul also scored a century.

India have looked dominant throughout this tournament and they will be confident as they head into this match.

On the other side of the coin, things have gone poorly for New Zealand in recent weeks. New Zealand have lost their last 3 games as they were beaten by Pakistan, Australia, and England. New Zealand lost to England in their last outing.

It was a very poor batting display by New Zealand as the team only managed 186 runs. Tom Latham scored 57 but the rest of the batting were very poor and the team lost all 10 wickets within 45 overs. New Zealand have been bowled out in their last 2 games which is a big concern for the team.

The bowling was also poor from New Zealand as they allowed England to score big runs early in the match. England scored 305 runs in their 50 overs with the likes of Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner going for lots of runs.

New Zealand look in poor touch and it will be tough for the team to turn things around against India.

The pitch at Old Trafford should be good for batting. A fresh pitch will be used for this game which should mean that lots of runs should be scored.

New Zealand had an easy start to the tournament but this team has failed to win against any of the major teams. New Zealand have not beaten any team that finished in the top 5. New Zealand lack batting depth and I see that being a big problem in this match. India are firing on all cylinders and the team looks very confident as they enter this match. India were the best team in the group stage and I see them being good enough to defeat New Zealand and earning a spot in the final.
