South Africa vs. India

South Africa +175 / India -225
South Africa play India at the Rose Bowl in Southampton for a match in the 2019 ICC World Cup.
India have had an odd fixture schedule meaning that this will their first match of the tournament. The Indian team last played a week ago in a warm-up match against Bangladesh which they won. It was a good batting display by India as both KL Rahul and MS Dhoni performed well by scoring centuries. The Indian top 3 is considered to be the best in the world but they have failed to perform in their last few outings. While the class of the players is undoubtedly high, India will hope that they can score some runs in this match. The bowling has been very impressive for India. Jasprit Bumrah looked very dangerous in the warm-up matches as he was hitting speeds around 90 mph. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal also looked in good form as both spinners took wickets in the game against Bangladesh. India are ranked number 2 in the world and they will enter this match with confidence after their recent win over Bangladesh.
In comparison, it has been a nightmare start to the tournament for South Africa. The South Africans lost their opening match to England and were beaten again on Sunday as they lost to Bangladesh. The loss to England was expected but the loss to Bangladesh was a major shock and the team looks very low on confidence. The bowling looks very one-dimensional with the likes of Morris, Rabada and Ngidi not causing the batsman any problems. The batting has also been very poor with the likes of Duminy and Miller looking out of form. This is going to be a very tough match for South Africa but if they lose, it will be very hard for them to make it out of the group stage.
The ground in Southampton is known for big scores. It was a very high scoring venue in the Royal London One Day Cup and I am expecting both India and South Africa to post big totals.
The big player for India in this match will be Jasprit Bumrah. With the conditions at the ground being favourable to the batsmen, Bumrah’s pace and variations could be essential in ensuring South Africa score enough runs. As for South Africa, their key player will be Quinton De Kock. The South Africans need someone who can score a big total and De Kock has that ability.
South Africa are 0-2 and the team looks very low on confidence. The bowling has been going for runs and the batting has been very poor. India, on the other hand, had a very good win over Bangladesh in their last outing and will enter this match filled with confidence. With all that taken into consideration, I am going to pick India to win this match.
