India -450 / Sri Lanka +700
In the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, Sri Lanka will play against India.
Sri Lanka have already been eliminated from this tournament. As it currently stands, Sri Lanka have 8 points from their 8 games.
Sri Lanka were victorious in their previous match as they defeated the West Indies by 23 runs. The batting was good from Sri Lanka as Avishka Fernando scored an impressive century to get the team to a total of 338. Kusal Perera also scored a rapid half-century at the top of the innings.
The batting was well complemented by the bowling as Malinga led the team to defend the total. Malinga took 3 wickets and bowled exceptionally at the death. The fielding was also very good from Sri Lanka as they took 3 wickets via runouts to hamper the West Indies.
This is going to be a much tougher match for Sri Lanka as they are playing a significantly stronger team in India.
Looking at India, the team has secured a spot in the semifinals following their win against Bangladesh. India currently have 13 points from their 8 games.
India batted well as the team scored 314 runs in their 50 overs. Rohit Sharma was the star performer for India as he scored his fourth century for the tournament. KL Rahul also played well by scoring 77 runs.
The bowling was led by Jasprit Bumrah who took 4 wickets to seal the victory. Bumrah exploited his yorker exceptionally well to finish the Bangladeshi inning with 2 overs remaining. Hardik Pandya also contributed by taking 3 wickets. The Indian bowling has been outstanding in this tournament.
This match between Sri Lanka and India will be played at Headingley in Leeds. Headingley has produced a slow wicket for this tournament so it may be hard to score big runs.
This match does not matter too much since India have secure qualification while Sri Lanka have been eliminated. As far as predicting a winner is concerned, I am going to side with India to win this match. India have a better team and have been winning more consistently than Sri Lanka. While Sri Lanka batted well against the West Indies, the batting has been poor from Sri Lanka throughout this tournament and I see that being a problem against India. India have a well-balanced side and I see them being too strong for Sri Lanka in this match.
