New Zealand will play Bangladesh at the Oval for a match in the group stage of the 2019 ICC World Cup.

New Zealand had a big win in their opening match as they defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets. It was a dominant performance by the New Zealand bowlers as they took all 10 wickets in 29.2 overs while conceding only 136 runs. Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson were the two top bowlers for New Zealand as both pacemen took 3 wickets each. The opening batsmen were also very good for New Zealand as they put on an unbeaten 137 run stand to seal the victory. Martin Guptill scored 73 runs while Colin Munro scored 58 runs. This New Zealand team is looking in very good form and they will be confident in their ability to do very well in this tournament.

Bangladesh are also looking in very good touch as they enter this match having beaten South Africa. It was a very impressive batting display by the Bangladesh team which was led by Shakib Al-Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim. The innings was well finished by Mahmudullah Riyad who helped the team score a total of 330. The batting was well backed-up by the bowling unit as the Bangladeshi side took vital wickets throughout South Africa’s inning. Mustafizur Rahman was the top bowler as he took 3 vital wickets to seal the win. The win over South Africa will give this team great confidence as they head into this clash.

The pitch at the Oval has been good for batting. The South Africa vs Bangladesh match was played at this venue where over 600 runs were scored. Bangladesh should have an advantage since have played at this venue and will know the conditions better.

The key player for Bangladesh in this match will be Mehidy Hasan. The spin bowler has been playing well as his style of bowling could cause problems for the likes of Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson. As far as New Zealand are concerned, they will hope that Trent Boult can perform well. The Oval always produces lots of runs but if Boult can swing the ball and take early wickets, New Zealand will be in a very strong position.

Both teams look in very good form but I see New Zealand winning this match. Bangladesh were exceptional in their opening match but the team lacks the depth throughout the batting order. New Zealand have a more balanced side and I see them being too strong for Bangladesh in this match.

Pick:
New Zealand
