New Zealand are set to host England at Seddon Park in Hamilton for the 2nd Test of the series. New Zealand lead the series 1-0.
New Zealand played exceptionally well in the opening fixture as they won by an innings and 65 runs. The batting was outstanding from New Zealand as they scored over 600 runs in their first innings. BJ Watling was the star performer for New Zealand as he scored 205 runs. Mitchell Santner also batted very well as he scored 126 runs. The bowling was disciplined from New Zealand as they managed to control take 20 wickets in time to win the match. Neil Wagner was the best bowler for New Zealand as he took 5 wickets in the final innings of the match. Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner also contributed with vital wickets. New Zealand are looking very confident and I see them being tough to beat in this match.
On the other side of the coin, England were very poor during the opening test. The batting lacked discipline as key players played rash strokes to get out. The likes Ollie Pope, Ben Stokes, and Joe Root lacked control and played poor shots to give their wickets away. The batting has been a long-term problem for England and they must find a way to score big runs if they wish to win matches. The bowling was also very poor from England. England allowed New Zealand to score over 600 runs while only taking 9 wickets. Sam Curran looked outclassed throughout the match and it is surprising that he continues to get selected. Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, and Stuart Broad were overused and it seems like Joe Root is struggling as a captain. Considering the state of this team, it is hard to see England bouncing back in this match.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick New Zealand to win this match. New Zealand are in better form, have better players and are playing at home. I this being a one-sided match that New Zealand wins with some ease
