New Zealand and India are set to play the second T20I of their series at Eden Park in Auckland. New Zealand currently lead the series 1-0 so India must win to keep the series alive.

It was a dominant display by New Zealand in the opening T20 game as the batters had a superb day. Tim Seifert was exceptional for the Black Caps as he scored 84 runs in 43 balls to get the team to a massive total of 219 in their quota of overs. As far as the New Zealand bowling was concerned, it was equally impressive as they bowled out India for 139 runs to record a massive victory. Tim Southee led the bowling for New Zealand as the fast bowler took 3 wickets while only conceding 17 runs. Southee was well supported by Sodhi, Santner and Ferguson who all contributed with wickets while having exceptional economy rates.

On the other side of the coin, it was a day to forget for India. The bowlers were all smashed out of the park as the team conceded close to 11 runs per over for the entire event. The fielding was poor as plenty of catches were dropped and the batting was a disaster. While the loss would have been very disappointing, India is still a very strong side and they will expect to bounce back in this match.

This match is set to be played at Eden Park where scores are generally very high because of the short boundaries.

Taking everything into consideration, I am picking India to win this match. While India had a big loss in the previous game, they are the higher ranked side and the team has bounced back well from defeat as shown after their loss in the 4th ODI. India have not lost a series since their tour of England in mid-2018 and I don’t see them starting now. I see India winning and making the series 1-1.
