Pakistan will play against Bangladesh in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.

This is a big game for Pakistan as they enter with the hopes of qualifying for the semifinals. As it currently stands, Pakistan have 9 points from their 8 games. Pakistan won their previous match where they defeated Afghanistan by 3 wickets.

It was an outstanding bowling display by Pakistan as they only allowed Afghanistan to 227 runs in their 50 overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi was the star performer for Pakistan as he took 4 wickets for 47 runs. Wahab Riaz and Imad Wasim both contributed with 2 wickets each. With Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz and Shaheen Shah Afridi all playing well, Pakistan have a bowling unit that can compete against any opponent.

That being said, the batting was poor from Pakistan as they were very close to losing the match. Players like Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq gifted their wickets away and that placed Pakistan in a very tough situation. Fortunately for Pakistan, Imad Wasim played a mature inning to get the team over the line.

On the other side of the coin, Bangladesh lost their previous match to India and have been eliminated from the tournament. Bangladesh have 7 points from their 8 games.

The loss to India was largely due to poor fielding. Bangladesh dropped Rohit Sharma early and the Indian opener scored a century to give India a score of 314. Bowlers like Shakib and Mustafizur Rahman bowled well and were vital in ensuring India didn’t score excess of 350.

The batting was also solid from Bangladesh as Shakib almost led the team to victory. Mohammad Saifuddin played a very good inning at the end of the match but it wasn’t enough to get Bangladesh over the line.

This match between Pakistan and Bangladesh is set to be played at Lord’s in London. Lord’s has produced pitches which have been good for batting. Spin bowlers have struggled at Lord’s during this tournament. Seam bowlers have done well at Lord’s.

Taking everything into consideration, I am picking Pakistan to win this match. Pakistan have been winning games and the team has some momentum as they enter this match. Bangladesh are eliminated and the team looked down following their loss to India. The Pakistani seam bowlers should enjoy Lord’s and I see their bowling being too strong for Bangladesh. I see Pakistan getting the 2 points and challenging for a spot in the semifinals.
