In the World Test Championship, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are set to play the second Test match of the series at the National Stadium in Karachi.
The opening Test match ended as a draw after large amounts of the match were canceled due to rain. Fortunately, the weather is much brighter in Karachi and there should be no rain delays in this match.
It has been a tough few months for Pakistani cricket and that was evident during the team’s tour of Australia where they were humiliated. Pakistan suffered two big defeats in Australia but there were signs of improvement during the previous fixture with the team batting well. Pakistan batted once in the game with the team scoring 252 for 2. Babar Azam and Abid Ali both played exceptionally well with both players scoring centuries. The bowling still looked weak but Shaheen Shah Afridi had a good game and the team did enough to create scoring chances. With cricket returning to Pakistan, the team will be hoping to win the match and the series for the eager fans.
On the other side of the coin, Sri Lanka looked very weak. The batting was decent from Sri Lanka as the team scored 308 runs but the bowling lacked any penetration. Sri Lanka only managed to take 2 wickets as they allowed Pakistan to score with great freedom. Sri Lanka are lacking quality bowlers and the team will find it tough to take 20 wickets against a decent Pakistan batting unit.
Neither Sri Lanka nor Pakistan have been playing well in recent months, so this is a big series for both teams. Having said that, I am going to pick Pakistan to win this match. Pakistan are the stronger team and the players look extremely determined considering they are playing at home. I see Pakistan doing enough to secure a win from this match.
