Royal Challengers Bangalore will play their second match at home as they host the Mumbai Indians. Both RCB and MI lost their opening match so both franchises will be desperate to win this match and get some points on the board.
It was a very poor opening round match for RCB as they were bowled out for only 70 runs. The big names like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali all failed to score and the team looked to be in a shamble. The bowling for RCB was courageous as they fought hard but the team simply didn’t have enough runs to compete. The batting conditions should be much better in this match so RCB will hope that their batters can fire.
On the other side of the coin, the Mumbai Indians also lost their opening match. The bowling was very disappointing for MI as they conceded over 200 runs. It was hard to find any standout bowlers for Mumbai as they all had economy rates of more than 10 runs per over. A bigger blow for MI might be the injury to Jasprit Bumrah who may miss this match and that will result in the bowling to be further weakened. As far as the batting is concerned, Yuvraj Singh looked in good form for Mumbai so that is a positive for the team.
The pitch at Bangalore should be good for batting on which means that both RCB and MI will look to score big.
Both teams will be desperate to win but I am going to pick RCB. Mumbai looked poor in their opening match while Bangalore did have some fight. MI will be without Bumrah and it is hard to see how the visitors will contain the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers without their key bowler. RCB have the advantage of playing at home and I see that being enough to give the team a win.
