South Africa vs Pakistan - 01/21/19 One Day International Cricket - 2nd ODI Pick, Preview, Odds, and Prediction

Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports

South Africa and Pakistan will play the 2nd ODI at Kingsmead in Durban. Pakistan won the 1st ODI at Port Elizabeth meaning South Africa must win to stay in the series.

Pakistan’s bowling was very disciplined as they kept the hosts to only 266. Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan were very impressive as the two bowlers conceded less than 90 runs in their combined 20 overs. The batting was also very good for Pakistan as Imam-ul-Haq gave the team an exceptional start before Shoaib Malik finished the chase for the visitors. It was a convincing performance by Pakistan and the team will be high on confidence as they head into this match.

On the other side of the coin, South Africa will feel very disappointed as they failed to establish themselves in a home game. Hashim Amla batted well for the South Africans by scoring 108, but the hosts failed to score quickly enough and that resulted in them getting a sub-par total. The bowling was also disappointing for South Africa as Kagiso Rabada failed to take wickets while Duanne Olivier was very expensive. It is important to note that Imran Tahir was very impressive for South Africa so the hosts will hope to build around their veteran spinner.

Kingsmead is traditionally a good place for pace bowlers as the pitch usually has some grass. Both Pakistan and South Africa have very strong pace bowlers meaning that both teams will enjoy playing at this ground.

Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Pakistan to win this match. South Africa having a batting lineup that has been struggling lately and I see the Pakistani bowlers having a really strong game. Pakistan are playing exceptionally well in limited-overs cricket and I see the visitors taking a 2-0 lead in the series.

Pakistan
