South Africa vs Pakistan - 2/3/19 T20 International Cricket - 2nd T20 Pick, Preview, Odds, and Prediction

Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports

South Africa and Pakistan are set to play the 2nd T20 International at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

South Africa won the opening T20 and currently lead the series 1-0. It was a very impressive opening T20 for South Africa and the batting unit fired the team to a huge total of 192 in the 20 overs. Reeza Hendricks scored 74 of 41 balls while Faf du Plessis scored 78 of 45 balls. Hendricks and Faf batted exceptionally well as they scored heavily against one of the strongest T20 bowling lineups in the world. The South African bowling was also impressive as Beuran Hendricks, Chris Morris and Tabraiz Shamsi combined to take 6 wickets.

On the other side of the coin, Pakistan lost the match due to their bowling. Faheem Ashraf and Shadab Khan were both very expensive as the pair conceded 76 runs in only 6 overs. While the result was disappointing, Pakistan have been bowling very well in T20s for an age and the team will expect the bowlers to bounce back strongly in this game. As far as the Pakistan batting was concerned, the team batted well with Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik and Hussain Talat contributing. Unfortunately for the visitors, the Pakistani bowlers conceded too many runs for the batters to win the game for the team.

Pakistan and South Africa played an ODI at the Wanderers last week where South Africa were beaten badly. The pitch spun during the ODI which should excite the Pakistani spinners, especially Shadab Khan who bowled very well last time the teams met at the Wanderers.

Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Pakistan to win this match. Pakistan have the stronger team in T20I and are currently ranked number 1 in the world. I am expecting the Pakistani bowlers to bounce back in this match and level the series 1-1.
