Sri Lanka and South Africa will play the third match of their 5-match series at the Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban. South Africa have won both of the previous matches in this series which means that Sri Lanka must win to keep this series alive.
In the previous game, Sri Lanka had a very poor outing with the bat as the collapsed from 92 for 3 to be bowled out for 138. Sri Lanka lost their last 7 wickets for only 46 runs which is a big cause for concern as their batsman seem to lack composure. That being said, the bowling performance by Sri Lanka was decent as Thisara Perera and Lasith Malinga combined to take 5 wickets while conceding only 65 runs. Sri Lanka’s big issue is regarding the batting which must improve is the team wishes to be competitive in this match.
South Africa will be disappointed with their batting display although Quinton de Kock had a good day as he scored 94 runs in only 70 balls. Faf du Plessis was also good as the captain scored a half-century. The remainder for the South African batting was poor and it shows that there is a great room for improvement for the host nation. The bowling was exceptional for South African and Ngidi, Rabada and Nortje combined to take 7 vital wickets.
The pitch at the Kingsmead Cricket Ground is known to be favourable for the seam bowlers meaning that the conditions should heavily favour South Africa.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick South Africa to win this match. South Africa are looking very strong while Sri Lanka are consistently failing with the bat. With the conditions expected to suit South Africa, I am picking them to win this match and take a 3-0 lead in the series.
