In the 2019 ICC World Cup, Sri Lanka will play against South Africa at the Riverside Ground.

South Africa have had a horror World Cup and have no chance of making it into the semifinals. The Proteas have only won 1 match and have 3 points from 6 games.

In their previous match, South Africa were beaten by Pakistan by 49 runs.

It was a poor bowling display by the likes of Ngidi and Rabada who allowed Pakistan to score at a rapid rate. Only Imran Tahir troubled the Pakistani batsmen and that resulted in South Africa conceding 308 runs.

The batting was equally disappointing from South Africa as the Proteas were never challenging the Pakistani total. Faf du Plessis scored a half-century but the remainder of the players didn’t build any momentum and that cost South Africa. The moral of the South African team will be low as they have been eliminated from the tournament so it is going to be hard for them to turn things around.

On the other side of the coin, Sri Lanka reignited hope into their campaign by defeating England. It was an outstanding performance as Sri Lanka defeated the pre-tournament favorites.

It was a tough pitch to bat on but Angelo Mathew displayed his class by scoring an unbeaten 85. Avishka Fernando (49) and Kusal Mendis (46) also contributed with runs to get the total to 232.

The bowling was outstanding from Sri Lanka. Lasith Malinga bowled in an outstanding manner as he took 4 vital wickets. Dhananjaya de Silva also contributed with 3 wickets. Sri Lanka bowled out England for only 212 runs which was an incredible display. The win against England should give Sri Lanka lots of confidence as they head into this match.

The Riverside Ground in Durham should be good for seam bowling as it has not been used in this tournament and the overhead conditions should be overcast.

South Africa have been eliminated and the team is looking down following their loss against Pakistan. Sri Lanka, in comparison, have shown great fight and are still in contention for a spot in the semifinals. Neither team has great quality but Sri Lanka have been winning and the team is in good spirits. With that in mind, I see Sri Lanka winning this fight and continuing their fight for a spot in the semifinal.
