Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will continue their ODI series at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka currently lead the series 1-0.

Sri Lanka were very impressive in the previous match as they gave Lasith Malinga a winning exit from the game. The batting was very strong from Sri Lanka as they scored 314 runs in their 50 overs. Kusal Perera was the star performer for Sri Lanka as he scored 111 from 99 balls. Angelo Mathews and Kusal Mendis also performed well with the bat.

The Sri Lankan bowling was led by Lasith Malinga who took 3 vitals wickets. Malinga was bowling with his trademark accuracy to trouble the Bangladeshi batsmen. Nuwan Pradeep also contributed with 3 wickets. It was a good win for Sri Lankan bowlers but they must find a new leader in this match with Malinga retiring.

Looking at Bangladesh, the bowling was the biggest disappointment for the team. The likes of Shafiul Islam, Mehidy Hasan, Mosaddek Hossain, and Mustafizur Rahman were very expensive as all 4 bowlers had economy rates of over 6 runs per over. Bangladesh failed to take early wickets and that cost them the game.

The batting was also poor from Bangladesh although they were facing quality bowling from the Sri Lankan pacemen. Mushfiqur Rahim was the only Bangladeshi batsman to perform as he scored 67 runs. Bangladesh have a talented batting unit and will fancy themselves to perform better in this match. It will be important for key players like Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad to score big runs.

The pitch for this game should perform in a similar manner to that in the first ODI. The batsman should look to score big runs in this match.

Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Sri Lanka to win this match. Sri Lanka look to have the momentum on their side and the crowd seem to be giving the team a boost. Bangladesh are still missing key players and I don’t see them having enough to compete against an inform Sri Lankan outfit.
