Sri Lanka and New Zealand are set to play their second T20 on Tuesday at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. New Zealand lead the series 1-0 meaning that Sri Lanka must win to remain in the contest.

Sri Lanka played well in the opening T20, especially with the bat as they managed to post a very strong total batting first. Kusal Mendis was the star performer for Sri Lanka as he scored 79 runs off only 53 balls. Sri Lanka scored 174 runs but the bowling was the main reason the team failed. Lasith Malinga bowled well as he took 2 vital wickets but the rest of the bowling was below par. The likes of Akila Dananjaya, Kasun Rajitha, and Isuru Udana were very expensive and that resulted in the team losing. Sri Lanka must bowl better if they wish to win this match.

New Zealand had a solid match as they bowled with consistency and batted with class. Ross Taylor batted exceptionally well as he scored 48 runs off 29 balls. Tim Southee led the team with the ball as he took 2 wickets while having an economy rate of only 5. New Zealand have been very strong in white-ball cricket over the past few months as the team made the final of the ICC World Cup. Despite that result, this is expected to be tough for New Zealand as the conditions should favor spin bowling.

This is the second successive match at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium and considering the hot weather, the pitch is expected to take turn. Considering the composition of the two teams, Sri Lanka should enjoy the conditions more than New Zealand.

Despite the result from the opening match, I am going to pick Sri Lanka to win this match. The conditions should aid Sri Lanka and they have the team to strangle the Kiwi batsmen. I see the series being level after this game.
