India vs. West Indies
|Date & Time||Sunday August 11, 2019, 9:30 AM (EDT)|
Queen's Park Oval
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago
The Line: -- Over/Under:
India and the West Indies will move onto the Queen’s Park Oval at Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. This is set to be the second ODI in the 3-match series. The series is tied at 0-0 after the opening ODI was washed out.
West Indies batted for 13 overs in the opening ODI before the rain arrived. During those 13 overs, there were some positives for the West Indies, especially the runs scored by Evin Lewis. Evin Lewis scored an unbeaten 40 which will be the opener tons of confidence, especially since he has been out of form. The West Indies have been poor over the past few months as they lost the T20 series 3-0 and finished 9th at the World Cup. If the West Indies are to compete in this series, they must improve their batting since it has been their biggest weakness over the past few games.
Looking at India, the team bowled well in the 13 overs that were played in the opening ODI. Kuldeep Yadav managed to dismiss Chris Gayle while Shami and Kumar bowled economical spells. Khaleel Ahmed was poor for India but considering he only bowled 3 overs, he should get another chance in this match. India have been in good form as they have only lost 2 games since the start of the World Cup. India look very confident as they head into this match and that should make them tough to beat.
The Queen’s Park Oval usually produces dry pitches. This should encourage teams to bat first and then use their spinners in the second innings. That being said, this pitch should produce a high scoring game.
The West Indies have struggled over the past few months and I see them losing this match to India. India are amongst the top teams in the world and they will be confident following their 3-0 win of the T20 series. The momentum seems to be with India and I see them being good enough to win this match and take a 1-0 lead in the series.
