The West Indies will play against South Africa at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

The West Indies suffered a narrow defeat to Australia in the previous game. The West Indies bowled first and were incredible with the new ball. Oshane Thomas, Andre Russell and Sheldon Cottrell were fast and aggressive and dismissed 4 Australian batsmen within the first 10 overs. Unfortunately for the West Indies, Australia were allowed back into the game through the middle overs and that resulted in the game turning away from Jason Holder and his team. The batting was also solid by the West Indies with Shai Hope and Jason Holder scoring half-centuries to give the team a good chance. The West Indies fell 15 runs short but the performance was very impressive and the team will feel confident that they can do well in this match. The West Indies will also feel that they were unfairly judged during the previous game with multiple incorrect umpiring decisions being made against the team. The dismissal of Chris Gayle was a major talking point as the superstar batsman was dismissed during a ball which should have been a free hit. Knowing that they were on the harsh end of such umpiring should give the West Indies confidence as they were still very competitive throughout the game.

On the other side of the coin, things have gotten very negative for South Africa. South Africa lost their third successive game to India and they are in a very tough situation. To make matters worse, Lungi Ngidi will not be able to play this match and his injury has left the team very short on bowlers. During the loss to India, South Africa had a very poor batting game. The likes of Amla, De Kock, and Duminy all look in terrible form and it seems unlikely that they can turn things around against a powerhouse West Indies bowling unit. If South Africa are to turn their fortunes around, the team needs to start scoring big runs. Faf du Plessis acknowledged the teams batting woes and it will be up to the captain and senior members like Amla to lead the team by scoring big runs.

The Rose Bowl hosted the match between India and South Africa. Indications from that match suggest that this ground could be good for the pace bowlers. The inform West Indian pace bowlers should be excited about playing at this ground.

South Africa have been very poor throughout the tournament and I see their nightmare continuing in this match. The West Indies have been very impressive throughout this tournament and I see them having too much bowling strength to allow a struggling South African side to score enough runs. The West Indies were very good against Australia and I see them continuing their good form and winning this match.

Pick:
West Indies
