DFS - Fantasy Baseball - MLB DraftKings "Main" Lineup - 4/3/19

Update (6:04 PM) - Hi Everyone! Made my adjustments! Image is updated below. Good Luck!

Hi Everyone!

Here is my “initial” lineup for tonight’s DraftKings “Main” MLB slate.

On the mound, I’m leading off with one of the top options in the Dodgers Ross Stripling as it’s hard to ignore his outstanding match-up against a Giants lineup that is hitting just .205 on the season against RHP’s. Striping was outstanding last season against the Giants as in 11.0 IP, he posted a 1.64 ERA while holding the Giants to just a .195 batting average. Stripling posted an impressive 10.03 K/9 ratio last season so he has the ability to pile up some points tonight against the Giants who currently rank just 20th in team strikeout rate.

For our SP2, we’re going to go with the Pirates Jameson Taillon. Taillon finished with a mediocre stat line in his opening season start against the Reds (6.0 IP, 6 H, 4 ER), however, pitched better than what the numbers showed. Taillon was impressive last season as he posted a 3.20 ERA while holding opponents to just a .246 average. Taillon was lights out against the Cardinals last season, posting a 2.11 ERA while holding the St. Louis to just a .162 bating average over three starts.

On the offensive side, we’re going to start off looking at the Dodgers as we like the stack of David Freese, Kike Hernandez, and A.J. Pollock against the LHP Derek Holland of the Giants. Holland was hit hard against the Padres in his first start of the season (4.0 IP; 3 ER, 1 HR, 2 BB) and it could get worse tonight against a Dodgers team who has already hit 17 HR’s this season. Holland gave up 19 HR’s last season to RHB’s, while allowing RHB’s to post a .798 OPS against him.

David Freese comes in at a good price and we should be seeing him in the lineup against the LHP. Freese has had a slow start to his season this year, however, has posted a .321 average & .888 OPS vs. LHP in his last three seasons. Hernandez is one of the more obvious choices for a Dodgers stack as this is a player who had crushed LHP throughout his career. Hernandez is hitting .400 on the season with 2 HR’s and is 5 for 10 against LHP on the young season. A.J. Pollock has gotten off to a nice start with his new team as he is hitting .360 with a HR. Pollock has posted a respectable .787 OPS against LHP over his last three seasons and is 5 for 9 against LHP’s this season.

Houston has one of the better match-ups on the slate against the LHP Mike Minor of the Rangers and we’re looking at a 2-man stack of Tyler White & Carlos Correa.

I’m paying up for some of the bigger Oakland bats in Matt Chapman & Khris Davis in their match-up against Nathan Eovaldi of the Red Sox. Eovaldi is a fastball pitcher which is not a good thing when you face the A’s who are known for their ability to hit fastballs hard. Chapman was one of the better players in all of baseball in the 2nd half of the season last year and has started this year on a tear as he is hitting .345 with 3 HR’s and is riding a 7-game hitting streak. Chapman is a solid fastball hitter and I think he can time up one of Eovaldi’s fastballs tonight. Davis hit in incredible 48 HR’s last season and already has gotten off to a fast start in that category as he has cleared the wall 5 times so far this season.

We’re going with a couple of value picks with the Braves in Nick Markakis & Dansby Swanson in their match-up against Jon Lester. Markakis is off to a slow start, but he did go 2-4 with a BB in his last game and has plenty of experience against Lester in his years in Baltimore. Swanson is a talented young player who had HR upside and I think has nice value tonight.

Rounding out the team is just pure “punt” play with Christian Vazquez in his match-up against Marco Estrada.

As always, I might make some changes depending on weather, lineups, ETC. I will always do my best to post the updates on the article, however, if it’s a real last second change, make sure you follow me on Twitter (@BrettCU05) as I’ll also post changes there.

Good Luck!
