Update (11:39 PM) - Hi Everyone. Had to make some adjustments as Sanchez & Grichuk are out this afternoon. I'm plugging in Rendon who has a .320 average/1.026 OPS w/ 3 HR's vs. Matz in his career and going to hope that Brett Gardner can keep up his recent hot streak as he is hitting .471 over the past week and has a .292 career average vs. Bundy. Image is updated. Good Luck!
We couldn’t get it done with yesterday’s “Early Only” lineup, however bounced back with a solid 179.6-point performance last night that has us cashing in both our GPP’s & 50/50’s.
We’ve been on a bit of a hot streak as we’ve cashed in both GPP’s & 50/50’s in 4 of our last 5 slates and we’re looking to stay hot as we look at our “Initial” lineup for FanDuel’s MLB “Early Only” slate that features 5 games and starts at 12:10pm!
On the mound, it comes down to either paying up for Stephen Strasburg or going with value with Trevor Richards and as of now, as I want to load up on some bats, I’m going with Richards.
Richards hasn’t been anything mind-blowing this season, however, hasn’t been awful as he comes into this game with a 4.44 ERA & 1.38 WHIP. Richards has one of the better change-ups in the league that can generate some swinging strikes and is currently holding his opponents to just a .227 average. The match-up couldn’t be much better for Richards as he faces a Detroit team that ranked 30th in batting average vs. RHP (.214 average) AND 29TH in team strikeout rate.
On the offensive end, we’re currently giving the majority of our attention to the BOS/TOR game as this could be a very high scoring game with the Blue Jays going with the LHP Clayton Richard while Boston is going with RHP Ryan Weber.
Richard will be making his first start of the season after finishing last year with a 5.33 ERA over 27 starts with the Padres. Over his last three seasons, Richards is allowing opponents to hit .290 against him while allowing RHB’s to post a .296 average/.845 OPS.
For the Red Sox, we’re paying up for Michael Chavis, Xander Bogaerts, and Mookie Betts.
Weber has posted a solid 1.13 ERA & 1.13 WHIP in 8.0 IP so far this year with the Red Sox, however, I expect those numbers to take a hit tonight as this is the same pitcher that posted a 5.04 ERA over 5 starts with AAA Pawtucket this season.
For the Blue Jays, we’re going with a 4-man stack of Justin Smoak, Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Billy McKinney, and Randal Grichuk.
Rounding out the team, we have to get Gary Sanchez in the lineup in his match-up against Dylan Bundy of the Baltimore Orioles. I’m taking a chance in fading the Yankees a bit today, however, I have no problem still paying up for Sanchez who has HR’s in each of his last three games and is hitting .306 so far in the month of May.
As always, I will make any necessary updates due to confirmed lineups, weather, etc. I will do my best to update the post but if it’s a last-second update, it’s easier for me to post that with an image on Twitter (@BrettCU05).
