Let’s get the day started off on the right note as we take a look at today’s MLB FanDuel “Early Only” slate that features 4 games and starts at 12:10am.
We have some weather to worry about in this slate, however, Boston looks pretty solid while there is some concern in the LAD/PHI game.
I’m going to the Red Sox game this afternoon and even with Sale’s price tag under $10,000, I’m not going to be able to get away from Dinelson Lamet in his match-up agianst the Miami Marlins. Lamet comes into this game with a 6.30 ERA over his first two starts of the season (LAD & ATL), however, has shown that he has top of the rotation stuff and comes into this game with 14 K’s over 10.0 IP. Lamet has a great match-up in a very friends pitchers park in Miami and faces a Marlins team that ranks just 26th in team batting average vs. RHP (.238) & 30th in OPS (.656).
Although I’m not going to Sale on the mound, I’m paying up for a major 4-man stack of Red Sox in their match-up agianst the LHP Thomas Pannone of the Blue Jays. Pannone has done the majority of his work out of the bullpen this season, however, hasn’t been very effective as he comes into this matchup with a 6.18 ERA & 1.50 WHIP. Pannone is allowing RHB’s to post a .805 OPS and has a 1.37 HR/9 ratio.
For the Red Sox, we’re stacking Christian Vazquez, Xander Bogaerts, Mookie Betts, & J.D. Martinez.
As I’m staying away from the LAD/PHI game, I’m going to target Royals hitters in what I think is the 2nd best match-up agianst the LHP Ross Detwiler of the Chicago White Sox. Detwiler comes into this game with a 5.02 ERA & 1.67 WHIP on the season while allowing opponents to post a .356 average against him. Detwiler has really struggled vs. RHB’s as he is allowing them to post a .400 average/1.104 OPS against him on the season.
For the Royals, we’re going to go with Nicky Lopez, Hunter Dozier, & Whit Merrifield.
Rounding out the team, we’re going with a HR upside play in the Padres Hunter Renfroe. Renfroe has a tough match-up agianst Caleb Smith, however, he has struggled with HR’s this season as he comes into this game with a 1.73 HR/9 ratio.
