It’s Thursday and that generally means we have some afternoon baseball to enjoy!
Let’s take a look at who we’re going with in today’s 5-game FanDuel “Early Only” slate that starts at 12:35pm.
On the mound, after getting less than stellar performances from deGrom & Bauer over the last two days, we’re going to go with some value in Oakland’s Aaron Brooks. Brooks had a rough first start of the season against Houston, but bounced back in a big way against the Boston Red Sox in his last start as he went 6.0 IP, giving up 0 ER’s on just 2 hits while striking out 6. Baltimore has some bats you have to worry about, but for the most part if he can limit the damage done by Villar and Mancini, I can see him putting up a solid 30-40 point performance and easily hit value.
We’re going to day in the OAK/BAL contest and for the 4th straight day, stack the Oakland A’s offense. Oakland will be up against Dylan Bundy who has had a tough start to his season as he comes into this game with a 7.36 ERA, 2.05 WHIP, and has yet to get by the 4th inning in either of his starts. For the A’s, we’re stacking Jurickson Profar, Marcus Semien, and Khris Davis.
We’re also going to load up with the Mariners as they have a nice match-up against Jorge Lopez and the wind will be blowing out (15-20 MPH) to dead center field today in Kansas City. Lopez is at best an “average” pitcher that doesn’t strikeout many hitters and could be in for a long day against a Mariners offense that has posted a .296 average & .907 OPS vs. RHP on the season. For the Mariners, we’re stacking Ryon Healy, Domingo Santana, & Edwin Encarnacion.
We’re staying in the SEA/KAN match-up as we’re going to go with some value with the Royals, Ryan O’Hearn. O’Hearn is off to a slow start this season, however, he has posted a .286 average/.899 OPS vs. RHP on the season and has a decent match-up against Mike Leake who did give up 2 HR’s in this last start against the White Sox.
Rounding out our team with be A.J. Pollock of the Los Angeles Dodgers who is I think is a decent value pick at $3,300 as in his career against Michael Wacha, Pollock is 5 for 10 with 2 2B, 1 HR, and 4 RBI’s.
As always, I will make any necessary updates due to confirmed lineups, weather, etc. I will do my best to update the post but if it’s a last-second update, it’s easier for me to post that with an image on Twitter (@BrettCU05).
