DFS - Fantasy Baseball - MLB Fanduel Lineup - Early Only (12:35 PM) - 8/21/19
Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 11:35 AM (N/A)
As you saw yesterday, we’re back in action and I’m looking forward to growing the Fantasy Sports section at SportsChatPlace! We’ll have more content and be playing on more sites (DK, Yahoo….etc) come NFL season!
It was a low-scoring night for the MLB “Main Slate” last night, however, it was a solid night for us as our 134.2-point performance had us easily cashing in our 50/50 tournaments!
Let’s keep the winning going as we take a look at today’s MLB “Early Only” slate that features three games and starts at 12:35pm.
On the mound this afternoon, we’re going to pay up for the RHP Luis Castillo of the Cincinnati Reds in his match-up agianst the San Diego Padres. Castillo is having his best season in his young career, as he comes into this game with a 3.10 ERA and 1.14 WHIP to go along with an impressive 11.48 K/9 ratio. Castillo was impressive in his only start against San Diego earlier this season (6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 9 K) and is currently holding opponents to just a .195 batting average over 16 starts at home this season.
We’re going to our offense with an expensive 2-man stack of Minnesota Twins in Nelson Cruz & Max Kepler in their match-up against the RHP Lucas Giolito of the Chicago White Sox. Giolito has really turned a corner this season as he comes into this game with a 3.41 ERA & 1.14 WHIP, however, he hasn’t been as sharp since the All-Star Break, posting a 4.01 ERA while allowing 8 HR’s in 7 starts. Giolito has struggled agianst the Twins this season, posting a 6.30 ERA in his two starts and was rocked by the Twins in his last start (5.0 IP, 7 H, 7 ER, 4 HR).
Both Cruz and Kepler have had solid success against Giolito as Cruz is 3 for 5 with 3 HR’s while Kepler is 6 for 12 with a triple & HR.
We decided to go with a 4-man Cincinnati Reds stack with Tucker Barnhart, Freddy Galvis, Eugenio Suarez, & Phillip Ervin vs the LHP Matt Strahm of the San Diego Padres. Strahm comes into this game with a 5.21 ERA & 1.27 WHIP and we shouldn’t see much of him the Padres will be going with a bullpen game today. The Padres bullpen hasn’t been anything better than average this season as they’ve posted a 4.65 ERA while allowing opponents to .256 agianst them.
Rounding out the team, we went with some extreme value in Willy Adames & Mike Brosseau of the Rays in their match-up agianst the RHP Cory Gearrin of the Seattle Mariners.
