Let’s look at our initial lineup for today’s MLB FanDuel “Very Early” slate that features 3-games and starts at 4:05pm.

We don’t have many options on the mound and although I’m tempted to go with Trent Thornton in his match-up against Detroit, I’m going to spend up and go with Lucas Giolito of the White Sox in his match-up agianst Tampa Bay. Giolito has struggled a bit as of late, however, the former 1st-round pick still has had a breakout season as he comes into this game with a 3.23 ERA & 1.08 WHIP. Giolito has been solid in terms of K’s this season posting a 10.61 K/9 ratio and faces a Tampa Bay team that ranks just 23rd in team strikeout rate (9.39 K/game).

Leading off the offense will be a 3-man stack of the Blue Jays in their match-up agianst Daniel Norris of the Tigers. Norris has really struggled this season as he comes into this game with a 5.14 ERA & 1.44 WHIP while allowing RHB’s to post a .298 average & .811 OPS against.

For the Blue Jays, we’re going with some of their big RHB’s in Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Lourdes Gurriel Jr., and Teoscar Hernandez.

The Giants have one of the best match-ups on the slate agianst the RHP Walker Lockett of the New York Mets. Lockett has only made two starts this season and both haven’t gone well as he comes into this game with a 11.74 ERA & 1.70 WHIP. Lockett is allowing his opponents to post a .313 average & .996 OPS while LHB’s are posting a .417 average.

For the Giants, we’re going with three LHB’s in Brandon Belt, Brandon Crawford, & Alex Dickerson.

Rounding out the team, we’re staying in the NYM/SFG game and going with the Mets Robinson Cano & Michael Conforto in their match-up agianst the RHP Jeff Samardzija. Samardzija has pitched well as of late, however, has struggled against this current Mets lineup as they are hitting .370 (34 for 92) as a team agianst the veteran right-hander.

Robinson Cano has fared much better vs. RHP this season and is 5 for 6 lifetime w/ 3 doubles against Samardzija.

Conforto is hitting .360 over the past week and is 2 for 4 lifetime agianst Samardzija with a HR.
