Update (6:05 PM) - Hi Everyone. Decided to go with a 4-man Houston stack. I also decided to go with Mookie Betts as although he is off to a slow start....he has too much value at just $3,800. We won't see Mookie below $4,000 very often. Image is updated! Good Luck!
As I mentioned on my Twitter account a few days ago, due to my time being limited with my 9-5 job, family, and some medical stuff, I’m for the time being just going to focus on doing MLB FanDuel lineups until my time opens up again.
If I’m unable to get an article out, I’m still most likely going to have a team and I’ll post the team to our fantasy group page on Facebook and on my Twitter account (@BrettCU05).
Hopefully, things will settle down soon so I can back to offering multiple lineups on the various sites.
Let’s take a quick look at tonight’s FanDuel MLB Lineup that starts at 7:05pm!
Weather is going to be a factor today as the SF/PIT, MIN/BAL, and ATL/CLE games all have chances for delays/rainouts. For my initial lineup, I’m staying away from these games. We also have heavy winds in some of the games, including the wind blowing out to right-field (20 MPH) in Detroit tonight.
On the mound, we’re going to go with some value in Miami’s Caleb Smith in his match-up against the Washington Nationals. Washington has hit LHP well this season, however, Smith has looked outstanding over his first 3 starts as he comes into this game with a 2.65 ERA & 0.88 WHIP while holding his opponents to just a .153 batting average. Smith makes for a solid value play tonight as he has strikeout stuff (11.12 K/9) while the Nationals rank just 26th in team strikeout rate at 9.76 K/game.
On the offensive side, the three stacks that should be popular tonight will be the Astros, Cardinals, and Rockies and we’ve done a decent job gaining some exposure to all three.
Houston will be up against the LHP Drew Smyly tonight of the Rangers who comes into this game with a 7.15 ERA & 1.85 WHIP. Smyly has really struggled against RHB’s this season allowing them to post a .302 average & .876 OPS against him and is allowing the current Houston lineup to post a .980 OPS against him. For the Astros, we’re spending up for Jose Altuve & Carlos Correa and will go with the value pick in Tyler White is overdue for his first HR of the season.
St. Louis will have the pleasure of going up against Jason Vargas of the New York Mets, who I’m still surprised that he has a starting job in this league. Vargas is off to a rough start to his season as he comes into this game with a 14.21 ERA & 2.84 WHIP and has failed to make it by the first inning in each of his last two games. Vargas is allowing both LHB’s & RHB’s to hit over .400 against him on the season and is allowing his opponents to post a 1.281 OPS against him. As for right now, we just have Matt Carpenter & Paul Goldschmidt, but I won’t be surprised if I make and adjustment later to get more Cardinals in my lineup tonight.
For the Rockies, we’re going with David Dahl who made his return to the lineup last night after sitting out for a week or two with an injury. Dahl will be up against Vince Velasquez of the Phillies who although has pitched well so far this season, has posted a 6.14 ERA over 3 starts at Coors field in the last three years. Dahl has been a monster at Coors Field as coming into this season, he has posted a .332 average & .977 OPS in 256 AB’s at Coors Field and as he is 2 for 3 with a HR against Velasquez in his career, I like Dahl tonight in my lineup.
Rounding out my team, I’m going to the CHW/DET match-up as I mentioned that wind is blowing out hard to right field tonight. I think there is great value and HR upside in both Eloy Jimenez of the White Sox & Nicholas Castellanos of the Tigers.
As always, I will make any necessary updates due to confirmed lineups, weather, etc. I will do my best to update the post but if it’s a last-second update, it’s easier for me to post that with an image on Twitter (@BrettCU05).
