Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!
We had a solid day yesterday cashing in both our “Early Only” & “Main Slate” lineups and lets close out the week on a winning note as we take a look at today’s “Main Slate” that features 10 games and starts at 1:05pm.
On the mound today, we’re going to pay up for Blake Snell as he just has too much upside to pass up on in a home match-up against the Chicago White Sox. Snell has been pitching well in his last 3 games (including two agianst the high powered NYY offense) and was solid in his one match-up vs. the White Sox earlier this season (6.0 IP, 1 ER, 11 K). Snell has incredible 11.94 K/9 ratio this season and I think he’ll be able to reach 10+ K’s as the White Sox rank just 24th in team strikeout rate (9.41 K/9).
On the offensive end, we’re going to get plenty of action in the BOS/BAL game, starting off with a 3-man Red Sox stack vs. Asher Wojciechowski. Wojciechowski is allowing his opponents to post a .874 OPS against him on the season and has struggled agianst LHB’s as they are posting a .300 average/1.082 OPS.
For the Red Sox, we’re rolling with J.D. Martinez, Jackie Bradley Jr., & Andrew Benintendi.
The Red Sox will be going with the former Oriole, Andrew Cashner who although has pitched well this season, looked a bit shaky in his first start with the Red Sox allowing 5 ER on 8 H in 5.0 IP. Cashner has reverse splits and has struggled much more agianst RHB’s allowing them to post a .279 average/.830 OPS.
For the Orioles, we’re going with two of their power RHB’s in Trey Mancini & Renato Nunez.
Scooter Gennett has had a rough go at it since returning from the IR, however, I don’t mind taking a chance on him today with his price tag at just $2,600. Gennett has a touch match-up agianst Jack Flaherty, however, Flaherty does give up HR’s (1.73 HR/9 ratio) and it shouldn’t take too much to get it out of Great American Ball Park today.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his first career Grand Slam yesterday and he’ll have another chance to hit some bombs today as he has a favorable match-up against the LHP Tyler Alexander of the Tigers who gave up 2 HR’s to RHB’s in his only start against the White Sox in early July.
Rounding out the team, we’re going with Didi Gregorius of the NYY in his matchup agianst German Marquez of the Rockies. Marquez has allowed 19 ER’s in his last 3 starts and I don’t mind taking a chance on Didi (5 for 16 with 7 RBI’s in his last 4 games) and that short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium.
