It’s Sunday and although that means we’re heavily focused on the NFL slates today, it doesn’t mean we’re not still going be looking at baseball!
Let’s take a look at today’s MLB “Main Slate” that features 8 games and starts at 1:05pm!
On the mound, we’re going with some value in the Orioles Asher Wojciechowski in his match-up against the Detroit Tigers. Wojciechowski hasn’t been anything great this season, posting a 5.51 ERA, however, he has had some solid games this season (62-point performance vs. Boston) and has some solid strikeout-upside as he has a 9.13 K/9 ratio. The match-up for Wojciechowski doesn’t get much better today as he faces a Tigers team that ranks 27th in batting average vs. RHP (.237) & 30th in team strikeout rate (10.03 K’s/game).
Staying in this match-up, we’re going with a 3-man stack of Orioles in their match-up agianst the RHP Edwin Jackson of the Tigers. Jackson comes into this game with a 9.76 ERA & 2.03 WHIP on the season and has allowed 22 ER’s (5 HR’s) over his last 4 starts. Jackson is allowing his opponents to post a .356 average/1.115 OPS and has struggled agianst both LHB’s & RHB’s.
For the Orioles, we’re going with Jonathan Villar, Anthony Santander, & Trey Mancini.
We had to get some actions on the Cubs who have been mashing the baseball in their current series at home against the Pirates and should do so again today with the wind blowing out at Wrigley. The Cubs will be up against Trevor Williams who hasn’t been anything special this season, posting a 5.21 ERA & 1.41 WHIP. Williams has allowed his opponents to post a .286 average/.836 OPS and in has a 10.64 ERA in his two starts vs. the Cubs this season (11.0 IP, 20 H, 13 ER, 4 HR).
For the Cubs, we’re going with Anthony Rizzo & Kyle Schwarber.
We have a 2-man stack of Kansas City Royals in their match-up agianst the LHP Wade Miley of the Astros. Miley has had a nice season for the Astros, but the wheels look like they’ve fallen off as over his last two starts, he has lasted just 0.1 IP while allowing 12 ER’s on 12 hits.
I think Kansas City has some nice value today and I’m going with Whit Merrifield & Hunter Dozier.
Rounding out the team, we’re paying up for the RHB Marcell Ozuna of the Cardinals in his match-up against the RHP Chase Anderson of the Brewers who is allowing RHB’s to post a .292 average/.924 OPS on the season.
