Update (6:26 PM) - Hi Everyone! Decided to go with BOS & LAA stacks and taking a change with German Marquez who has upside, even pitching at home in COL. Image is updated. Good Luck!
Let’s take a quick look at our “Initial Lineup” for tonight’s FanDuel MLB contest that features 14 games and starts at 7:05pm.
We’re going to be paying up a bit for the Mets Zack Wheeler as although he can sometimes lack control, he has a great match-up against the Miami Marlins and has huge K-upside. Wheeler has posted 10+ K’s in 2 of his last 3 outings and faces a Miami team that has averaged 10.33 K/game over their last 3 games and ranks just 29th in team batting average (.218 average). Wheeler was dominant against Miami last season, posting a 1.29 ERA (31 K’s) in 4 starts and I think he continues his success against the Marlins tonight.
I feel like I’ve been stacking the Red Sox a lot this week (I promise…. it’s not just because I’m a Red Sox fan!) and I think that trend is going to continue to tonight as the wind will be blowing out hard to LF and they have a solid match-up against Erik Swanson. I’m loading up on the RHB’s of the Red Sox as Swanson has had reverse splits this season, allowing RHB’s to post a .302 average & .946 OPS.
For the Red Sox, we’re going to roll some value in Christian Vazquez and pay up for Michael Chavis, Mookie Betts, and J.D. Martinez.
I’m going to target the CWS @ TOR match-up a bit tonight as I think it’s going to be a high scoring game with the White Sox’s Dylan Covey & Toronto’s Clay Buchholz on the mound tonight.
I’m paying up for Yoan Moncada is really starting to live up to his potential as he comes into this game with a .285 average with 7 HR’s & 25 RBI’s. The switch-hitting Moncada has been outstanding as an LHB on the season, posting a .937 OPS with all 7 of his HR’s and I think he is going to have a monster night as Buchholz comes into this game allowing LHB’s to post a .370 average/1.090 OPS in 55 AB’s this season.
For the Blue Jays, we’re going with some value in Freddy Galvis & Billy McKinney. Dylan Covey hasn’t been overly impressive in his limited action this season and LHB’s have been solid against him as in 10 AB’s vs. LHB’s, he has allowed 5 hits.
Galvis has shown all his power as an LHB this season and although has struggled a bit in May, is still batting near the top of the Blue Jays batting order.
McKinney had a slow start to his season, however, has really picked it up as of late, hitting .417 over the past week which included a HR against Minnesota in the Blue Jays last game on Wednesday.
Rounding out the team will be Carlos Gonzalez of the Indians who should be seeing a start tonight the RHP Frankie Montas of the Athletics. Gonzalez is hitting .333 over his last 4 games and has some decent HR-upside for his price.
As always, I will make any necessary updates due to confirmed lineups, weather, etc. I will do my best to update the post but if it’s a last-second update, it’s easier for me to post that with an image on Twitter (@BrettCU05).
