Update (6:17pm) - Hi Everyone! Made some changes. Image is updated. Good Luck!
We had a solid end to our weekend yesterday as our 178.3-point performance has us easily cashing in both our 50/50’s & GPP’s. Leading the way for our team was Miami’s Sandy Alcantara who put up a monster 61-point performance (9.0 IP, QStart, W, 8K) in a career performance against the Mets.
Let’s keep it rolling as we take a look at our “Initial” lineup for tonight’s MLB FanDuel “Main” lineup that features 8 games and starts at 7:05pm.
We want for value yesterday at the pitching spot, however, today will be a different story as I think paying up for Patrick Corbin in his match-up against a Mets team that is coming in struggling is the clear-cut choice of the night. Corbin is earning his big contract he received this last offseason as he comes into this game with an impressive 2.91 ERA & 1.04 WHIP while sporting an impressive 10.59 K/9 ratio. Corbin has solid upside tonight against the Mets who come into this game hitting just .199 over the past week and currently rank 25th in team strikeout rate at 9.62 K/game.
We have a few solid teams to target tonight and the majority of my attention as of this morning will be on the New York Yankees & Houston Astros.
We have a 3-man stack of New York Yankees who will be up against the RHP Andrew Cashner of the Baltimore Orioles at the very hitter friendly Camden Yards tonight. Cashner has pitched pretty well as of late, however, the veteran right-hander has struggled against the Yankees this season as in his two starts, he has posted a 7.20 ERA.
For the Yankees, we’re going with some value with Kendrys Morales, while spending up on Gleyber Torres and Aaron Hicks.
Morales has looked better at the plate since being acquired by the Yankees as since putting on the pinstripes, he is hitting .300 (3 for 10) with a HR, 3 RBI’s, & 3 BB. Morales has had solid success against Cashner in his career, as he is 7 for 14 against him with 3 HR’s & 6 RBI’s.
I’m still surprised that Gleyber Torres cost just $3,500 as the 2nd year player comes into this game with a .293 average with 8 HR’s and is hitting .350 with 3 HR’s over the past week. Torres has hit RHP’s much better this season (.304 average/.878 OPS) and is 5 for 10 with a HR against Cashner in his young career.
Hicks just returned from injury and looks like he shook off some of the rust this past weekend as in his last two games, he we 3 for 8 with a HR, 2 RBI’s, & 2 BB. Similar to his teammates, Hicks has had some nice AB’s against Cashner in his career as he is 6 for 16 (.375 average) against the right-hander in his career.
Houston’s winning streak was snapped yesterday afternoon by the Red Sox, but it’s going to be hard to imagine that the Astros won’t start another streak tonight as they face off against the LHP Manny Banuelos of the White Sox who comes into this game with a 7.26 ERA & 1.87 WHIP. Banuelos is allowing his opponents to post a .320 average & 1.015 OPS against him on the season and has really struggled against RHB’s, allowing them to post a .329 average, .647 slugging percentage, and 1.061 OPS.
For the Astros, we’re paying up for Alex Bergman and going with some solid value with Jake Marisnick & Tyler White.
Bergman is hitting just .269 on the season, however, he has had no trouble putting baseballs into the cheap seats as he comes into this game with 9 HR’s already in the month of May. Bergman has struggled a bit vs. LHP this season, however, I’m sure his splits will improve as coming into this season, he had a career .311 average/.937 OPS vs. LHP.
Marisnick came through for us last week with a 37.4-point performance against the Tigers and I think he has some of the best value on the board tonight as the comes into this game hitting .333 over the past week while hitting LHP to the tune of a .400 (10 for 25) average & .984 OPS on the season.
Tyler White has been disappointing this season as he is still searching for his HR, however, he is still hard to ignore as he has HR upside and is very affordable in that dangerous Houston lineup. White put up 12 HR’s last season in 210 AB’s and as he posted a .305 average/1.010 OPS vs. LHP last season (59 AB’s), I like his value once against in this match-up.
Washington has a solid opportunity to put up some decent offensive numbers tonight as they get a match-up against the RHP Wilmer Font who comes into this game with a 7.08 ERA & 1.52 WHIP. Font comes into this game allowing his opponents to post a .293 average & .897 OPS against him on the season.
For the Nationals, we’re going with some value in Brian Dozier who still has some HR upside as he has 6 HR’s on the season and is coming off a solid series against the Cubs in which he went 5 for 11 (.455 average) with a HR & 4 RBI’s.
Rounding out the team, I’m going back to Camden Yards and going to go with Trey Mancini of the Orioles. Mancini will be up against J.A. Happ of the Yankees who although certainly has the ability to through a solid game, does have a tendency to give up HR’s as he comes into this game with a 2.03 HR/9 ratio.
Mancini is having an outstanding season for the Orioles as he comes into this game with a .304 average with 10 HR’s and also has had good success against Happ in his career as he is 8 for 25 (.320 average) with 3 HR’s against the LHP.
As always, I will make any necessary updates due to confirmed lineups, weather, etc. I will do my best to update the post but if it’s a last-second update, it’s easier for me to post that with an image on Twitter (@BrettCU05).
