Update (6:04 PM) - Hi everyone! Decided to make some updates. Both NYM/NYY & ARZ/PHI game has some PPD potential so I'm going to stay away from those games. I decided to keep Sale and went with a full 4-man TB stack against Oakland Tanner Anderson who has a 6.26 ERA while giving up 14 HR's in just 54.2 IP in the minors this season. We still have some action on Washington with Kendrick & Adam Eaton and have some value with Yairo Munoz & Austin Dean. Good Luck!
Finally got everything sorted out after a crazy, unexpected tough week and ready to get back on the DFS MLB train!
Let’s take a look at our initial lineup for tonight’s 9-game MLB FanDuel “Main Slate” that starts at 7:05pm.
Paying up for pitching this year has for the most part hasn’t been a recipe for success, however, I’m not going to shy away from paying top dollar for Chris Sale today. Sale has looked more like himself as of late and is coming off a monster 73-point performance agianst Kansas City (9.0 IP, 3 H, 12 K, 1 QS, 1 W). Sale has the highest K-upside on the slate as he comes into this game with a 12.8 K/9 ratio and has recorded 10+ K’s in 6 of his last 7 games. Texas should be a great match-up for Sale tonight as they come into this game ranked just 20th in batting average vs. LHP (.240 average) and 27th in strikeout rate (9.66 strikeouts/game).
On the offensive end, we’re going to start with a 3-main stack of Washington Nationals vs. the RHP Odrisamer Despaigne of the Chicago White Sox. Despaigne will be making his first start this season, but it’s going to be hard that he is much better than the pitcher who sported a 6.69 ERA last season while allowing opponents to post a .321 average/.860 OPS. Despaigne struggled agianst both RHB’s & LHB’s as both hit over .300 against the right-hander.
For the Nationals we’re going to go with Howie Kendrick, Brian Dozier, and Matt Adams.
Kendrick has been a nice surprise for the Nationals this season as the 13-year veteran is hitting .327 with 11 HR’s & 39 RBI’s. Kendrick is hitting .350 over the past week and is hitting .343 during night games this year.
Brian Dozier has always been a streaky hitter, however, when he gets on a hot streak, it’s good to get him in your lineup as he has some solid HR upside. Dozier is hitting .391 so far in the month of June with 3 HR’s and is 2 for 5 agianst Despaigne in his career.
Adams has also been hot as of late as he is hitting .357 over the past week and had great success agianst the White Sox earlier this season, going 3 for 7 with 2 doubles in their 2-game series. Adams obviously has solid HR upside and is 3 for 7 against Despaigne in his career.
At third base, we’re going with Atlanta’s Josh Donaldson who will be up against the RHP Joe Musgrove of the Pirates. Musgrove hasn’t been anything special over his last few starts and has allowed 5 HR’s over his last two starts. Donaldson has struggled this season as he is hitting just .237, however, he does have 8 HR’s and I like him at home hitting in the middle of the Braves order.
At SS, we’re going to spend up a bit to get Gleyber Torres in his match-up agianst the LHP Jason Vargas of the New York Mets. Vargas has pitched really well as of late, however, I think his numbers will start to regress back to the pitcher that posted a 5.77 ERA last season while allowing opponents to post a .819 OPS. Torres has had a nice season as he has 14 HR’s this season and although his numbers vs. LHP’s haven’t been outstanding, I want to get some action with the Yankees tonight.
Carlos Gonzalez is at solid price in a revenge game agianst Colorado. Love his HR-upside against German Marquez who has allowed a HR in each of his last two games.
Dominic Smith is just a value HR-upside play agianst Masahiro Tanaka of the Yankees. Tanaka can be HR-prone as he has a 1.3 HR/9 ratio on the season and I like Dominic Smith hitting towards that short porch at Yankee Stadium, especially as he is hitting .395 (17 for 43) on the road this season.
Rounding out the team with Eloy Jimenez of the White Sox agianst Anibal Sanchez of the Nationals. We al saw Jimenez’s power yesterday as launched a 471-ft HR yesterday and I’ll take a chance with him launching another HR tonight.
As always, I will make any necessary updates due to confirmed lineups, weather, etc. I will do my best to update the post but if it’s a last-second update, it’s easier for me to post that with an image on Twitter (@BrettCU05).
