Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!
Just a reminder, as I mentioned yesterday, as I’m moving this weekend, I will be taking a few days off starting this Friday, August 16th. I should be back up and running by Monday, August 19th and with College Football around the corner, my CFB picks will be coming out soon!
We had a great night last night as our 245.6-point performance crushed it in both our GPP’s & 50/50’s. Let’s keep it going tonight!
On the mound, I’m going with the value in the Dodgers rookie RHP Dustin May who has a nice match-up against the Miami Marlins at the pitchers-friendly Marlins Park. Dustin May looked solid in his last outing against San Diego (5.2 IP, 5 H, 1 HR, 7 K). May was impressive in at Triple-AAA Oklahoma City this season, posting a 2.30 ERA & 7.9 K/9 ratio and you have to love the match-up agianst Miami ranks just 27th in team batting average vs. RHB (.238 average) and 19th in team strikeout rate (8.97 K/game).
With the money we’re saving with May, we have loaded up on the offense tonight.
Starting off us will be a 3-man stack of Arizona Diamondbacks in their match-up agianst the RHP Jeff Hoffman, who is replacing Jon Gray who was a scratch earlier today. Hoffman has struggled in his limited action this season as over his 8 starts he has post a 6.57 ERA & 1.57 WHIP while allowing opponents to post a .285 average & .910 OPS against him. Hoffman has been a reverse splits pitcher this season as he is allowing RHB’s to post a .317 average & 1.052 OPS agianst him.
For the Diamondbacks, we are going with a value pick in Josh Rojas and have paid up for both David Peralta & Christian Walker.
We have a 2-man stack of Washington Nationals in Anthony Rendon & Trea Turner in their match-up against the LHP Alex Wood of the Cincinnati Reds. Wood has struggled in his three starts this season as he comes into this game with a 5.65 ERA & 1.53 WHIP while allowing 4 HR’s in just 14.1 IP. Wood is allowing his opponents to post a .322 average/.948 OPS on the season.
Turner still has too much value at just $3,500 to pass up on and Anthony Rendon has owned Wood in his career as he is 12 for 21 with a HR.
We’re paying up Gary Sanchez of the Yankees as we want some action with New York in their match-up against John Means of the Orioles. Means has been probably the lone bright spot when it comes to the Orioles pitchers this season, however, did just allow 4 ER’s in only 3.2 IP in his recent start agianst NY. Sanchez has looked a little rusty at the plate since returning from injury, however, has a .809 OPS vs. LHP and has a HR agianst Means in his career.
We’re paying u for Cody Bellinger in his match-up agianst the RHP Jordan Yamamoto of the Miami Marlins. Yamamoto has been decent so far this season for the Marlins, however, has struggled a bit as of late, as he has allowed 19 ER’s & 6 HR’s over his last 4 starts. Bellinger has been lights out all season and have no problem rolling him out as he has posted a .324 average/1.094 OPS vs. RHP on the season.
Rounding out the team will be Nicholas Castellanos of the Cubs in his match-up against the LHP Jason Vargas of the Philadelphia Phillies. Vargas has pitched well this season, however, he certainly is capable of struggling and giving up HR’s. Castellanos has always been outstanding vs. LHP’s and that hasn’t stopped this year as he currently has posted a .370 average/1.108 OPS in 81 AB’s vs. LHP.
