We couldn’t keep our winning streak alive in this afternoon’s “Very Early” slate, however, we’re planning to get right back to our winning ways as we take a look at tonight’s MLB FanDuel “Main Slate” that features 6 games and starts at 7:05pm.
Clayton Kershaw is the clear cut choice on the mound tonight in his match-up against Miami, however, I’m just not willing to pay $12,000 for him even if has looked more like the Kershaw of old as of late. Instead, we’re going to take some value with the LHP Dillion Peters of the Los Angeles Angels in his match-up at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Dillion has been impressive in his limited action this season, posting a 3.45 ERA & 1.34 WHIP. Peters has been impressive as of late, as allowed just 6 ER’s in a combined 13.2 IP in his last two starts vs. Cleveland & Boston. Pittsburgh isn’t the great match-up as they’ve been decent vs. RHB’s and don’t strikeout a bunch, however, Peters has shown me enough in his last two starts that I’m willing to roll the dice with him tonight.
On the offensive end, we’re basically focusing on three teams which include the Seattle Mariners, Atlanta Braves, & Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Mariners will be up agianst Edwin Jackson who I expect to come back to earth after actually having a decent start agianst Kansas City last week. Even with the solid outing, it’s been a tough year for Jackson as he comes into this game with a 9.35 ERA & 1.96 WHIP. Jackson is allowing opponents to post a .349 average/1.138 WHIP and is allowing the current Seattle roster to post a 1.085 OPS agianst him.
For the Mainers, we’re going to be going with Omar Narvaez, Kyle Seager, & Domingo Santana.
The Braves will be up against the LHP Steven Matz of the New York Mets who comes into this game with a 4.49 ERA & 1.40 WHIP. Matz has been solid for the most part since the All-Star game, however, he can be HR prone and has struggled much more on the road this season, posting a 6.79 ERA. Matz currently has a 1.63 HR/9 ratio and hasn’t fared well agianst Atlanta this season as over three starts, the left-hander has posted a 6.23 ERA.
For the Braves, we’re going with Ozzie Albies & Ronald Acuna Jr.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been crushing RHP all season to the tune of a .830 OPS and I think that continues tonight against Elieser Hernandez of the Marlins. Hernandez pitched well after escaping some early trouble in his last start, however, he still posts just a 4.94 ERA while allowing opponents to post a .801 OPS. Hernandez has really struggled vs. LHB’s, allowing them to post a .611 slugging percentage & .977 OPS.
