Hope everyone is having a great week so far.
Just as a reminder, I’m moving this weekend so I will be out of action until next Monday, August 19th! If everything goes right, I should be moved in and have internet up by Saturday night, so there is a slight chance I will have a lineup on Sunday, but for now, I’m planning on being back next Monday.
We couldn’t keep our recent winning streak going last night, however, we’re hoping to get back on track as we take a look at tonight’s MLB FanDuel “Main Slate” lineup that features 8 games and starts at 7:05pm.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to pay up for the RHP Sonny Gray of the Cincinnati Reds in his match-up at home against the St. Louis Cardinals. Sonny Gray is looking like the pitcher we used to see in Oakland as the veteran RHP comes into this game with a 3.10 ERA & 1.13 WHIP while not allowing a run over his last two starts (13.0 IP, 6 H, 0 ER, 14 K) agianst Atlanta & Chicago. Gray is holding opponents to just a .211 average/.624 OPS on the season and has an impressive 10.15 K/9 ratio. St. Louis isn’t a bad match-up for Gray as they rank just 21st in team batting average vs. RHP (.243 average) and 25th in “Away” team batting average (.238 average).
Offensively, we’re going to focus mostly on the Cincinnati Reds, Minnesota Twins, & New York Yankees.
For Cincinnati, I like their match-up at home against the RHP Michael Wacha of the Cardinals. It’s been a tough season for Wacha as he comes into this game with a 5.54 ERA & 1.65 WHIP and is coming off a game against the Dodgers in which he allowed 6 ER’s on 7 hits in just 3.2 IP. Wacha is allowing opponents to post a .301 average/.917 OPS against him and currently has a 2.12 HR/9 ratio.
For the Reds, we’re going with a 4-man stack of Tucker Barnhart, Jose Iglesias, Aristides Aquino, & Phillip Ervin.
For Minnesota, they have a great match-up in Texas agianst the RHP Pedro Payano in the very hitters friendly Globe Life Park in Arlington. Payano comes into this game with just a 3.86 ERA, however, you know he has been lucky to avoid more trouble as he has a 1.71 WHIP while allowing opponents to hit .290 against him. Payano is allowing opponents to hit .353 against him at Globe Life Park in Arlington is allowing RHB’s to post a .371 average/1.071 OPS.
For the Twins, we’re doing a 2-man stack in Miguel Sano & Jake Cave.
For the Yankees they have a matchup agianst the RHP Adam Plutko of the Indians who comes into this game with a 4.68 ERA and 1.19 WHIP on the season. Pluto struggled in his last outing agianst Minnesota allowing 4 ER’s on 9 hits (2 HR’s) agianst the Twins. Plutko has struggled with HR’s this season, coming into this game with a 2.34 HR/9 ratio and I like rounding out the team with two power bats in Gleyber Torres & Aaron Judge.
