We’ve been on a pretty solid streak over the past three days and let’s keep it going tonight as we take a look at our lineup for the MLB FanDuel “Main Slate” that features 12 games and starts at 7:05pm.
I got my research done earlier today, but just got home after a long day at the 9-5, so I’m keeping this one pretty short as we’re just about 40 minutes to first pitch.
On the mound tonight, I think it comes down to whether you want to spend up for Lance Lynn vs. Det or go with value with the talented Dustin May of the Dodgers making his MLB debut agianst San Diego. If you have followed me in the past, you know I love getting value at the pitching spot so I’m going to go with May who in his 5 starts at Triple-AAA this season has posted a 2.30 ERA while striking out 24 in 27.1 IP. The match-up agianst San Diego has plenty up upside as although the Padres have some solid power, they come into this game ranked just 23rd in team batting average vs. RHP (.242 average) and 27th in team strikeout rate (9.65 K’s/game).
With the money we’re saving with Dustin May, we have some solid exposure to both the Astros & Rockies tonight.
The Astros will be up against the LHP Yusei Kikuchi of the Seattle Mariners who comes into this game with just a 5.21 ERA & 1.46 WHIP. Kikuchi is allowing opponents to post a .283 average/.850 OPS against him on the season and has had trouble with HR’s this season, posting a 1.89 HR/9 ratio.
For the Astros, we spent up for Jose Altuve, Alex Bergman, & Carlos Correa.
The Rockies will be at home tonight at the hitters-friendly Coors Field and I like their matchup against the RHP Shawn Anderson who comes into this game with a 5.06 ERA & 1.49 WHIP while allowing at least 3 ER’s in each of his last 5 starts. Anderson didn’t fare well in his only start at Coors this season (4.1 IP, 5 ER, 8 H) and is allowing opponents to post a .306 average agianst him on the road this season.
For the Rockies, we paid up for Charlie Blackmon & David Dahl.
We were all over Will Smith last night and he came through for us in a big way, and I’m going right back to the rookie slugger as he has another great match-up agianst the LHP Eric Lauer who is coming off a month of July in which he posted a 6.28 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .305 against him.
We’re also going with Tyler White who although is risky as he will probably be pulled if San Diego brings in an LHP, I like his value leading off tonight for just $2,400.
Rounding out the team, we’re paying for J.D. Martinez as I think he’ll be able to get a HR off James Paxton tonight at Yankee Stadium.
