Hope everyone has had a great work week! Happy Friday!
Let’s take a look at our initial lineup for tonight’s MLB FanDuel “Main Slate” that features 14 games and starts at 7:05pm.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to go with some value in the Philadelphia Phillies LHP Drew Smyly in his matchup at the pitchers friendly Oracle Park agianst the San Francisco Giants. Smyly had a rough time in Texas earlier this season, however, has pitched well in his 3 starts with he Phillies as he has allowed just 6 ER’s over 18.0 IP while striking out 20. The Giants have struggled as of late, losing 6 of their last 8 games and you have to like this match-up as San Francisco comes into this game ranked dead last in both team batting average vs LHP (.233 average) and OPS (.671 OPS). The Giants are about league average when it comes to strikeouts, however, Smyly does have some K-upside as he comes into this game with a 9.35 K/9 ratio.
On the offensive end, we’re going to start with a stack of Kansas City Royals in their match-up agianst the RHP Edwin Jackson of the Detroit Tigers. It’s been a tough year for Jackson as in his 28.1 IP, he has posted a 11.12 ERA & 2.19 WHIP. Jackson is allowing opponents to post a .380 average/1.235 OPS agianst him on the season and has been especially hit hard by RHB’s to the tune of a .429 average/1.422 OPS.
For the Royals, we’re going to do a 4-man stack in which we have a value play in Ryan O’Hearn and paid up for the big bats of Hunter Dozier, Jorge Soler, & Whit Merrifield.
The Red Sox offense was a bit of a let down last night, however, I’m not afraid of spending up for some of their big bats tonight as they have another solid match-up agianst the RHP Jaime Barria of the Angels. Barria comes into this game with a 6.36 ERA & 1.52 WHIP while allowing opponents to post a .289 average/.918 OPS against him. Barria has really struggled with HR’s as of late, allowing 8 HR’s over his last 17.1 IP and I imagine he is going to have a hard time keeping the ball in Fenway Park tonight.
For the Red Sox, we’re going to pay up for Xander Bogaerts, Mookie Betts, & Andrew Benintendi.
Rounding out our team, we’re going with a value play at 2B in Luis Urias in his match-up at home against the LHP Kyle Freeland of the Rockies. It’s been a rough year for Freeman as he comes into this game with a 7.24 ERA & 1.61 WHIP on the season. Freeman is allowing his opponents to post a .293 average/.930 OPS and is allowing RHB’s to post a .603 slugging %/.965 OPS. Urias has picked it up a bit as of late, hitting .333 over the past week and I’m willing to take a chance with him tonight in this good matchup.
