Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!
It was an interesting night last night as it was one of those rare nights in which our 167.7-point performance was good enough to cash in our GPP’s, however, I entered the wrong 50/50’s as I fell just short in both of them!
Let’s take a look at tonight’s MLB FanDuel “Main Slate” lineup that features 14 games and starts at 7:05pm.
On the mound, I’m tempted to go with Trevor Bauer as he is too good of a pitcher to be priced at just $8,700, however, he has just been so bad on the road since joining the Reds, I just can’t do it. Instead, I’m going to go with some solid value in Pittsburgh’s Mitch Keller in his road match-up against the San Francisco Giants at the pitchers friendly Oracle Park. Keller has been up and down all season and was lifted early in his previous outing after getting hit on the wrist, however, he looks good to go tonight. Keller was solid in 19 starts in the minors this season, posting a 3.56 ERA while posting a 10.7 K/9 ratio, and although was roughed a bit recently against Philadelphia, he showed his upside with a 46-point performance against the Reds in late August. Keller has posted a 12.0 K/9 ratio in the majors this season and I like his match-up against the Giants who come into this game ranked 28th in team batting average vs. RHP (.235 average) and have averaged 10.67 strikeouts as a team over their last three games.
On the offensive end, we’re going to start off with a 3-man stack of Atlanta Braves in their match-up agianst the LHP Jason Vargas of the Philadelphia Phillies. Vargas has had a solid season compared to what we saw from his last season, however, he hasn’t been as effective since joining the Phillies as he has posted a 4.93 ERA & 1.38 WHIP in his 7 starts. Vargas has allowed 15 of his 18 HR’s this season to the RHB’s and I don’t think he makes it through 5 innings tonight.
For the Braves, we’re going to go with Ozzie Albies, Josh Donaldson, & Ronald Acuna Jr.
We wanted to get some action on the Cardinals tonight and we did so as we’re going with both Paul Goldschmidt & Marcell Ozuna in their match-up agianst Chi Chi Gonzalez of the Rockies at Coors Field. Gonzalez pitched surprisingly well against the Dodgers on the road in his last start, however, he still has had a tough season as he comes into this game with a 7.29 ERA & 1.69 WHIP. Gonzalez has really struggled at Coors Field this season, as he has posted a 11.17 ERA while allowing his opponents to hit .386 against him.
The Dodgers have a great match-up against the LHP Ty Blach of the Baltimore Orioles tonight as Blach comes into this game with a 10.95 ERA & 2.15 WHIP. Blach has posted a 9.82 ERA in his 4 games since being acquired by the Orioles and is currently allowing his opponents to post a .349 average/1.057. Blach has really struggled agianst LHB’s, as he is currently is allowing them to post a .407 average/1.244 OPS. For the Dodgers, we paid up for Cody Bellinger who has posted a 1.000 OPS w/ 17 HR’s vs. LHP on the season and has a .313 average against Blach in his career.
We’re getting some value with the Cubs Nico Hoerner who made a splash in his MLB debut yesterday, going 3 for 5 with a triple, 4 RBI’s, & 2 runs scored. Hoerner hit an impressive .292 in 75 games in the minors this season and I don’t mind getting him at min-price in his match-up agianst the RHP Ronald Bolanos of the Padres.
Rounding out the team, I’m going to be going with the White Sox’s Yoan Moncada who I think has great value against the RHP Jakob Junis of the Royals. Junis comes into this game with a 4.94 ERA & 1.38 WHIP while allowing LHB’s to post a .290 average/.822 OPS. Moncada is much better as a LHB, posting a .314 average/.933 OPS and has had great success agianst Junis, posting a .412 average (7 for 17) with a 1.238 OPS.
