DFS - Fantasy Baseball - MLB Fanduel Lineup - Main Slate (7:05 PM) - 9/18/19
Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 6:05 PM (N/A)
Let’s take a look at tonight’s MLB FanDuel “Main Slate” lineup that features 10 games and starts at 7:05 pm.
On the mound tonight, we’re not going to mess around as we’re paying the premium price to roster the Astros RHP Gerrit Cole in his plus matchup at home against the Texas Rangers. Cole has been lights out this season as he comes into this game with a 2.62 ERA & 0.91 WHIP while holding his opponents to 1.88 average/.586 OPS. Cole actually has struggled a bit agianst the Rangers this season, posting a 6.45 ERA over is four starts, but I’m not worried about that and I’m more focused on the fact that he has 42 strikeouts in just 22.1 IP agianst the Rangers this season. Cole has an incredible 13.66 K/9 ratio on the season and as he is the best play for both cash & GPP’s tonight, I have no hesitations paying up for him.
For our offense tonight, we’re starting up with a 4-man stack of Cincinnati Reds in their match-up agianst the LHP Jon Lester of the Chicago Cubs. Lester is no longer a top of the rotation pitcher and comes into this game with a 4.59 ERA & 1.50 WHIP while allowing opponents to post a .292 average/.816 OPS. He has allowed 21 HR’s to RHB’s on the season and has struggled agianst Cincinnati this season, posting a 5.06 ERA (6 ER’s over 10.2 IP) and has posted a 6.61 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .338 against him over his three starts in September.
For the Reds, we’re going to stack Alex Blandino, Eugenio Suarez, Phillip Ervin, & Aristides Aquino.
We’re paying up for Nelson Cruz tonight as we love his match-up agianst the RHP Ian Nova of the White Sox. Nova has come back to earth after a string of solid starts and has posted a 9.45 ERA & 2.25 WHIP over his last three starts. Nova is allowing opponents to hit .337 in road starts this season and has struggled more agianst RHB’s, allowing them to post a .365 average/.846 OPS.
Cruz has had some solid success agianst Nova in his career, hitting .316 agianst him (6 for 19) with 2 HR’s.
Randal Grichuk has some solid value today as he has 29 HR’s on the season and has been on a roll as of late, hitting .320 with 4 HR’s over the past week. Grichuk has always fared well agianst the Orioles and that hasn’t changed this season, as he has posted a .371 average with 5 HR’s. Grichuk has a decent match-up agianst a HR-prone Dylan Bundy in which he does have a HR agianst in his career.
We had to go with value with our last two spots and we found some with San Diego’s Francisco Mejia & Milwaukee’s Orlando Arica.
Both Mejia & Arcia have HR power as they have a combined 22 HR’s between them.
Mejia has 7 of his 8 HR’s vs. RHP on the season and has been decent on the road this season, hitting .286 w/ 5 HR’s. Mejia will be up agianst Adrian Houser who has posted a 6.35 ERA in the month of September and has allowed LHB’s to post a .288 average/.873 OPS.
Orlando Arcia hasn’t had the breakthrough season many thought he could have prior to the season, however, he does have 14 HR’s on the season and has hit a HR agianst Dinesion Lamet in his career.
