DFS - Fantasy Baseball - MLB Fanduel Lineup - Main Slate (7:05 PM) - 9/23/19
Monday, September 23, 2019 at 6:05 PM (N/A)
Let’s take a look at tonight’s MLB FanDuel “Main Slate” that features 5 games and starts at 7:05pm.
I’m a bit under the weather today, so I’m going to keep this one pretty short.
On the mound tonight, I expect to see Steven Matz with the highest ownership, however, I like the upside that his opponent brings to the table tonight in Caleb Smith. Smith has had a solid season with the Marlins, coming into this game with a 4.24 ERA & 1.16 WHIP while holding his opponents to just a .217 average/.737 OPS. Smith has been outstanding vs. LHB’s, holding them to just a .202 average/.611 OPS and over his three starts agianst the Mets, he has posted a 3.27 ERA while holding the Mets to just a .179 average over 11.0 IP. Smith has K-upside with a 10.23 K/9 ratio and as I think there is a huge opportunity tonight taking Smith over Matz in this match-up.
On the offensive end, we’re going to go with a 3-man of Baltimore Orioles in their match-up against the RHP Clay Buchholz of the Toronto Blue Jays. Buchholz comes into this game with a 6.48 ERA & 1.48 WHIP and really struggled agianst this same Orioles team in his last start in which he gave up 7 ER’s on 10 hits in just 3.2 IP. Buchholz is allowing both LHB’s & RHB’s to hit over .300 agianst him and has posted an 8.20 ERA in his 4 “night” games this season.
For the Orioles, we’re going to go with Trey Mancini, Anthony Santander, & Austin Hays.
Staying in this match-up, I’m going with a 2-man stack of Toronto Blue Jays in Cavan Biggio & Randal Grichuk in their match-up agianst the RHP Chandler Shepherd of the Baltimore Orioles. Shepherd comes into this game with just 4.91 ERA & 1.45 WHIP while allowing his opponents to post a .829 OPS agianst him. Shepherd lasted just 4.0 innings in his last start agianst Toronto (4 H, 3 ER, 2 HR) while giving up HR’s to both Biggio & Grichuk.
I’m going with Starlin Castro tonight as we want the Marlins to score some runs for the Caleb Smith and I think Castro has great value at just $3,000. Matz has been solid, but he can give up HR’s and between the fact that Castro has a .325 average/.894 OPS vs. LHP & a .300 career average w/ a HR vs. Matz, I like Castro as a low-owned value play tonight.
At SS, we’re going with the HR-upside of Paul DeJong in his match-up against the LHP Alex Young of the Arizona Diamondbacks. DeJong has 29 HR’s on the season, including back-to-back games with HR’s and I like his changes to hit one out tonight at the hitters-friendly Chase Field.
Rounding out our team, we’re paying up for the big bat of Juan Soto in his match-up agianst the RHP Zach Eflin. Eflin has allowed 15 HR’s (.845 OPS) vs. LHB’s on the season and although Soto has struggled as of late, I think he snaps out of it agianst Eflin who he has a .417 average/.962 OPS agianst in his career (12 AB’s).
