Update (6:34pm) - I'm not taking any chances with the weather in the PHI/NYM game. Decided to make a 4-man HOU stack by adding Alvarez and we replaced Khris Davis w/ Chad Pinder. Good Luck!
As I’m patiently waiting for my Red Sox to start as their in another long rain delay in Detroit, let’s take a look our team for tonight’s MLB FanDuel “Main Slate” that features 7 games and starts at 7:15pm.
On the mound, we’re going for some extreme value tonight in the Dodgers Kenta Maeda who will be at home in a match-up against the San Diego Padres. Maeda has had a bit of trouble pitching deep into games as of late as he has lasted past the 5th inning just once in his last fives starts, however, he has been effective he comes into this game with a 3.78 ERA & 1.10 WHIP. Maeda was lights out against the Padres in his last start at home (6.2 IP, 0 ER, 12 K) and between the fact that the Padres rank 27th in team strikeout rate and 21st in team batting average vs RHP (.243 average), their just too much value with Maeda to pass up on tonight.
On the offensive end, we’re gong to get heavy exposure with both Houston & Oakland as both have solid match-ups.
For the Astros, we have a 3-man stack of Jose Altuve, Jake Marisnick, & Alex Bergman in their match-up agianst Andrew Heaney of the Angels. Heaney has struggled a bit as of late, allowing at least 5 ER’s in three of his last five starts and has had trouble keeping the ball in the park as he currently has a 2.21 HR/9 ratio.
Altuve has dominated Heaney in his career, posting a .368 average (7 for 19) with 3 doubles & a HR and has crushed LHP this season to the tune of a .348 average/1.131 OPS.
Marisnick has been productive in his limited time this season as he has hit 8 HR’s and has taken advantage of his match-ups against LHP’s as he has posted a .339 average/1.046 OPS in 56 AB’s vs. left-handers this season.
Bergman has some serious power as he already has 23 HR’s on the season and currently has a .915 OPS vs. LHP this season.
For the Athletics, they have a nice match-up agianst Marco Gonzales who comes into this game with a 4.39 ERA & 1.40 WHIP. Gonzales is allowing his opponents to post a .280 average agianst him on the season and has really struggled at home as he has posted a 6.00 ERA in 9 home starts.
For Oakland, we’re going with a 3-man stack of Matt Chapman, Marcus Semien, & Khris Davis.
Chapman comes into this game with 21 HR’s on the season and has had some solid success agianst Gonzales as he is 7 for 16 (.438 average) with 4 doubles and a triple in his career agianst the LHP.
Marcus Semien has been outstanding against the Mariners this season, posting a .326 average, and although he hasn’t had much success agianst Gonzales, he does have a HR against him.
Khris Davis has struggled as of late, however, it won’t be long until we see him putting baseballs over fences and at just $3,400, I think he has too much value as he is posting a .286 average/.928 OPS vs. LHP on the season.
We have Jose Abreu in what should be a good match-up agianst Jon Lester of the Cubs, who comes into this match-up with a 1.53 HR/9 ratio. Abreu has been on a tear as of late, hitting .381 over the past week, and on the season, has posted a .357 average/.976 OPS vs. LHP. Abreu has also had some nice success agianst Lester in his career, posting a .333 average (6 for 18) with a HR.
Rounding out the team will be Michael Conforto of the Mets who will be up against Jake Arrieta of the Phillies. Arrieta hasn’t been anything special this season, posting a 4.43 ERA & 1.42 WHIP and has really struggled vs. LHB’s allowing them to post a .306 average/.921 OPS. Conforto has some of the best power on the Mats and has posted an impressive .906 OPS vs. RHP’s this season.
