Hope everyone has had a great start to their weeks!
The regular season of MLB season will be wrapping up soon, however, we still have a couple of weeks left to get some more money in our accounts for the NFL, NBA, & NHL seasons!
Let’s take a look at tonight’s FanDuel MLB “Main Slate” that features 7 games and starts at 7:40pm.
Abraham Toro has some solid HR-upside and I think is solid value at just $3,200 after hitting .324 w/ 17 HR’s in 114 games in the minors this season.
On the mound, I was going back and forth with Robbie Ray & Steven Strasburg and although they both have the best upside of the night with their elite K-rates, I just couldn’t sell myself on either of them as I wanted to ensure I had plenty of funds for what should be a good offensive slate. Instead, I decided to go with some value with Tanner Roark of the Oakland Athletics in his match-up against the Kansas City Royals. Roark has posted an impressive 3.40 ERA & 1.181 WHIP in his 7 starts since being traded to the Athletics and comes into this game with a respectable 8.5 K/9 ratio on the season. Roark has been solid against RHB’s (.243 average/.681 OPS) and has had success against the current Royals lineup, holding them to just a .146 average/.539 OPS. Roark wasn’t great in a recent start against Kansas City, however, has posted two 44+ point performances over his last four starts and faces a Royals team that ranks just 28th in team batting average on the road this season (.235 average).
On the offensive end, we’re going to do a 4-man stack of Oakland Athletics in their match-up against Glenn Sparkman of the Kansas City Royals.
Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter (@BrettCU05) as this is the best platform for me to make any needed last-minute adjustments! Sparkman has struggled this season, as he comes into this game with a 5.94 ERA & 1.48 WHIP while allowing his opponents to post a .293 average/.865 OPS agianst him. Sparkman has allowed 7 ER’s (4 HR’s) over his two starts in September (9.0 IP) and has struggled agianst both LHB’s (.289 average/.913 OPS) & RHB’s (.298 average/.814 OPS).
Oakland has been on a tear as of late, averaging 9.5 runs per game during their 6-game winning streak and I love the 4-man stack of Matt Olsen, Matt Chapman, Khris Davis, & Ramon Laureano tonight.
We’re going to make sure we get some exposure in the Mets/Colorado game tonight and that starts off with a 2-man stack of Robinson Cano & Michael Conforto of the Mets in their match-up agianst the RHP Anthony Senzatela. Senzatela pitched well in his last start, however, it’s been a tough season for him as he comes into this game with a 6.87 ERA & 1.75 WHIP. Senzatela has posted a 6.59 ERA at Coors Field this season and has really struggled vs. LHB’s, allowing them to post a .349 average/.991 OPS.
Staying in this match-up, I’m paying up for the Rockies Trevor Story in his match-up agianst the LHP Steven Matz of the Mets. Matz has pitched extremely well since the All-Star break, however, has struggled with HR’s this season and has posted just a 6.75 ERA at Coors field over the last three seasons. Story is 5-13 (.385 average) against Matz in his career and has posted a .314 average/.905 OPS vs. LHP on the season.
Rounding out are team, we needed to find a minimum value player and we’re going to go with the Reds Alex Blandino in his match-up agianst the LHP Cole Hamels of the Cubs. Hamels has struggled recently, posting a 6.33 ERA in August and a 7.04 ERA in his two starts in September and has had struggled much more during night games, posting a 5.23 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .303 agianst him. Blandino doesn’t bring much upside as he was just a .247 hitter w/ 5 HR’s in the minors, but I don’t mind his value as he will be leading off tonight.
