DFS - Fantasy Baseball - MLB Fanduel Single Game Showdown - WAS/CHC (2:20 PM) - 8/23/19
Friday, August 23, 2019 at 1:20 PM (N/A)
Had some time to put together a quick "Single Game Showdown" for FanDuel MLB today! Let's take a look at the WAS/CHC match-up that starts at 2:20pm.
Today's game should be a bit more interesting than what we saw in yesterday's 1-0 Cubs victory over the Giants in which I wished I just stayed away from and bet the under...haha.
On the mound today, we have Anibal Sanchez for the Nationals and Jon Lester for the Cubs.
Sanchez has been decent this season, but has been hit harder as of late, allowing 8 ER's over his last 9.0 IP. Sanchez comes into this game with a 3.99 ERA & 1.38 WHIP while allowing opponents to post a .252 average/.731 OPS against him.
Jon Lester has been nothing more than average this season, posting a 4.23 ERA & 1.42 WHIP and although he is coming off a solid start at Pittsburgh, it's been a rough month of August for the veteran LHP as he has posted a 7.65 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .318 in 4 starts. Lester is allowing opponents to post a .282 average/.789 OPS against him on the season and has allowed 19 of 21 HR's to RHB's on the season.
On the offensive side, for the Nationals we're going to pay up for Anthony Rendon & Trea Turner.
Rendon is in our All-Start (1.5x) spot as he comes into this game with a .324 average with 28 HR's & 101 RBI's. Rendon is hitting .394 over the past week and is 3 for 7 with two 2B against Lester in his career.
Turner is having a solid season as he comes into this game with a .296 average with 13 HR's, 42 RBI's & 26 SB's. Turner, like most of the Nationals offense, has been solid as of late as he is hitting .341 in the month of August and has posted a .318 average/.852 OPS vs. LHP's on the season.
For the Cubs, we're going with Nicholas Castellanos, Kyle Schwarber, & Jonathan Lucroy.
Castellanos is in our MVP (2x) spot and has been a great trade deadline acquisition for the Cubs as over the past week, he is hitting .360 with 3 HR's. Castellanos has posted a .378 average/1.170 OPS in the month of August and is 2 for 3 with a HR against Sanchez in his career.
Schwarber has struggled this season as he is hitting just .227, however, he does have solid HR-upside as he has 29 HR's on the season. Schwarber is hitting .333 agianst the Nationals this season and has a .834 OPS vs. RHP.
Rounding out our team is a value pick in Jonathan Lucroy who I'm taking just due to his career history agianst Sanchez in which he is 4 for 9 (.444 average) with 2 HR's & 6 RBI's.
